I understand. I have about a shelf full of unread, and add to it regularly.

One of man's greatest intellectual failings is the concept that when one buys a book, one also buys the time to read it.

Currently working through Napoleon: The Spirit of the Age by Michael Broers. Pretty fascinating read of Napoleon's finest points and high points of the Napoleonic French First Empire from 1805-1810. 9/10 the only times you hear of Napoleon is from British historians at the Battle of Waterloo or his infamous 1812 campaign, but this is a solid look at his military campaigns and his political moves that created one of the most powerful empires in Europe and Continental system that obviously didn't last that long.

I have a stack of ten or so books I've been meaning to read since the fall. Occasionally I manage to read one. That's not counting all the other things I would like to read eventually.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
This is my first time reading it.
If you are part of the majority of people that are in the Harry Potter fandom, you're probably surprised.
I actually started reading Harry Potter when I was younger, but I decided that I didn't like fantasy so I just refused to read any fantasy books. Not one of my smartest decisions. My friend convinced my to give Harry Potter a try again. I'm reading it with an open mind this time, and I actually like it. Even though fantasy worlds still aren't really my thing, I've decided to stop ruling out books because of their genre (one could say that I have stopped judging books by their covers). I've also started playing dnd and I'm going to read more fantasy books (and books of genres other than the genre that I normally read). If anyone has suggestions, let me know (I typically read realistic fiction, autobiographies, and historical fiction).

The Future of Humanity by Michio Kaku — It’s a book most people can understand as the writer relates some concepts to similar concepts in movies, which I rarely watch.
