Blindsight by Peter Watts. I highly recommend it to anyone even slightly interested in sci-fi.

It was strange, but very good. I thought it was really interesting how it was like this post-apocalyptic Catholic fantasy/sci-fi novel. The most bizarre premise, but it works. Although the backstory behind the novel and its author is sad
