Why does everyone hate rap? I love all forms of rap. Would the people who say they hate "modern" rap please clarify what the hell they are talking and why is does it suck.

I'm not sure actually. I had an emo friend and we sat together on the bus one day and I listened to his ipod for about one minute before I switched seats.

What I was telling him/her was that his/her friend can't be "emo", because it is not possible for a human to be a genre of music, just like it's absolutely ridiculous for someone to say something like "I'm jazz".

I'm content with listening to music without feeling the need to label myself and be a part of "the scene". I know there's a whole social context to punk, leading to people referring to themselves as punks, but that isn't important to me.

Therefore, whenever I hear or read about someone calling themselves punks or goths or emo kids or [insert your label here], I can't help but react in a slightly amused manner.

If that's how it is, you should call them goths so that they get annoyed.

I like some modern rappers: Kanye, Q-Tip, and Jay-Z. But, my favourite hip hop group has always been [and will always be] Public Enemy.

50 Cent was alright in some things, but he was bad mostly. I don't think he's doing too much anything anymore, so I'm still not convinced.

Soulja Boy isn't a rapper. B.o.B sucks at rapping. Flo Rida sucks too. Kanye West auto tunes too much. Snoop Dogg's good when he actually tries. Ice Cube? He absolutely sucked. Kid Cudi I never cared for. Jay-Z is actually good when he combines with other genres.

Lil Wayne and Eminem are good to me. Very good. I would like to hear one of these other groups people are mentioning. Could I have a link to some of their music? So I can get an idea of what you think is good rap.
