I've always considered them to be a Screamo band, or Post-Hardcore at the very least, but I can see what you mean.

Considering most (if not all) emo falls under post-hardcore, and all screamo falls under emo, it's easy to see where our whole debate came from. There's a lot of grey areas and overlap as you get into sub-genres and sub-sub-genres, and taking them as hard, set rules misses the point, we use all these categories to easily sum up a sound, scene or both, not to actually place everything in a new box.

-Not sure if its called Heavy Metal or Punk Metal or that sort but the wierd metal/rock that sounds like some emo guy screaming his vocal cords off and has his face painted wierdly. I simply just despise it because it sounds worse than me trying to make music with pots, pans and the trash can lids.

My favorites are usually just classics(Beethoven,Wagner etc.). I also enjoy the instrumentals of E.S posthumous. I also love to listen to AC/DC,Quiet Riot,Metallica and Rammstein. Another Instrumental group is national anthems, especially the hymn of the soviet union. Might add some techno to that list.

Well, I've always seen Emo as more of a traditional evolution of the Hardcore Punk sound and one that was really close to Hardcore Punk, until later when it took on Alternative Rock aspects.

Well, I don't really think of Screamo as a subgenre of Emo, I think it took from Emo and branched off in a different direction, I see them both as branches that both originated from the source of Hardcore Punk, but I see Screamo as a far more dynamic genre that took on more outside influences than Emo did.

Well Screamo kind of can date back to early Emo, back when it was known as "Emotive Hardcore", or "Emocore", and retained it's Hardcore Punk roots. It wasn't until Sunny Day Real Estate and several other early 90's Emo bands began to take on Alternative aspects, that Emo actually became popular outside the underground Hardcore realm. I think Screamo sort of took a totally different route, and instead of refining the "Emocore" style, they made it much more chaotic; in a way somewhat of an anti-Emo, as it took much the opposite direction.

I wouldn't call it anti-Emo, or Post-Emo. I think Screamo and Emo were born from the same genre and took it in different directions. I haven't really found an Emo band that is Post-Hardcore, the first waves of Emo were reliant on Hardcore Punk until Emo took on Alternative influences in the form of Sunny Day Real Estate and American Football. Screamo took Hardcore Punk, but they completely took it above and beyond and never were very Punky at all. When you look at Les Miserables, Men as Trees, Funeral Diner, Orchid, Suis La Lane, and Raein, they're vastly different structurally from Native Nod, Moss Icon, The Hated, and Indian Summer. The former doesn't really have the Punk sound, but definitely has aspects of it, while the latter still retains a lot of the Punk sound. One served as a continuation, the other was a deviation.

Regardless, it generally doesn't bother me if someone uses Screamo and Emo interchangeably, I like to think that they're separate genres, but I don't get too worked up about it.

That's a sweeping generalization. Not even all popular modern rap is terrible, unless Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Eminem are terrible. If so, I'd like to know what definition of "terrible" you're using.
