Inspiration..

Postby FREEaquaticdancelesson » Mon Dec 27, 2010 3:04 pm

I'm a visual artist, basically meaning I like to draw.

I'm in kind of a slump lately though, as I've been stuck drawing skeletons of various animals and putting top hats and canes on them. I'm just kind of having a "writer's block" of thinking of what the hell I'm going to draw...
So I ask you good people of General A&F please post photographs of inspiring things to draw, that I might probably just end up putting a top hat and cane on anyway.
I'll post pictures once I get home from vacation, I have no scanner or camera here unfortunately.
Much ablidged!

Perhaps my nation's flag? Could draw it's skeleton... (there's a picture of it in one of the books I believe). And I can envisage it with a top hat and cane already! Not the skeleton mind. Perhaps you could draw it on a yacht, in the Pacific Ocean? It's not like it's doing anything anyway :)

You should draw the HMS Victory!

We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

Well when im stumped on my next piece i simply look out of my window or go for a nice drive. There are many beautiful things in nature or man made structures that make good subjects for art.

Draw a city, the walls are black, the windows shine red. The view is down own of the streets, the buildings on both side. The sun is setting in the background, the sky a dark purple, the sun redish as well. :3

Hrm.. thanks all great suggestions.

I went for a walk, found a frozen lake and really inspected it.. The ice crystals were pretty amazing, the way the water flowed just under the ice made a nice reflection so that I could see myself, and upon inspecting a brook I found a frog, frozen in ice!
I thought about it and wondered how the species of frogs continue to survive if they just stick around and get frozen, perhaps this one was just unlucky..
Anyway I decided to fuse the Idea of the city umbra had and stick it in a frozen underwater landscape. All the people eternally frozen in ice, much like the frog.

Thanks Latnya and Umbra! ;)

Currently looking at pictures of busy city streets and market places.

Hrm... I could stick some sailors in there, possibly celebrating a victory!
It IS underwater after all....

Alright! Now I've got some interesting characters to put in the city.
They're going to be drunk though, and hanging onto each other.

Excellent. Reminds me of Rapture. Are you painting, or drawing? You could have some real nice stuff going if you painted an underwater city.
