No One Does It Old School Like Britain

Postby Cathatis » Thu Dec 23, 2010 4:48 pm

I got thinking today about decent music. No one does it seriously epic like Britain. I mean, we brought to the world the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, the Sex Pistols, etc, etc.

Can anyone counter this?

I was thinking of adding Mozart, considering he was born in Salzburg, which was part of the Bavarian Circle in the Holy Roman Empire, but is currently a part of Austria. But then I figured it wasn't needed. The OP gave 5 examples, I gave 5 back.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

As a Canadian I feel really bad about what my country has contributed musically... any Canadian bands worth listening rarely make it big. Lately I'm liking the stuff coming out of Scotland, they've had a good couple of years with bands like Franz Ferdinand and the Fratellis.

You gave the world Justin Bieber and Madonna.

But you made up for it with Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel.
