Bohemian Rhapsody Mega Thread

Postby Kalasparata » Thu Dec 09, 2010 4:55 am

I figured out what the song is about but the music video is very very weid, I like the song. It's about someone who killed someone and is saying his final good byes then he's talking to the cops telling them to let him go but they won't then later his in gaol and he's saying that nothing matters to him but I don't know why the hell it says "Gallileo". Also the music video is completely off topic

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all." -Mario Savio

I'm sorry, but I don't like it... It is more over the top than Queen already was, it is TOO theatrical and people just can't shut up about how a great song it is. In the Netherlands, it has dominated every top [insert random large number] since they started here in 1999, and, finally, this year it has been beaten by Hotel California by the Eagles...

I think Queen is a great band, but Bohemian Rhapsody is certainly NOT their best song...

I prefer Tie your Mother Down myself. Also the thought that a discussion, nay not merely a discussion, but a mega discussion could evolve from you saying you like this pop song seems a bit strange to me.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

I personally prefer Innuendo, but Bohemian Rhapsody is a classic.
BTW, Kala, it's about a murder trial and how the criminal eventually resigns himself to his fate.

EDIT:

Have a couple of videos

Queen overall is one of the few post-WWII bands I have respect for.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

Did you really just try to make sense out of a Queen's song? What you gonna explain to me next? The Baby Got Back music video with the butt mountains, and the random assortment of fruits and vegetables, hmmm? If I wanted music that made sense, I'd listen to something pruny and unoriginal, like Maroon 5...
