Any of you like to write? I need some writer(s)

Postby Eurentus » Wed Dec 08, 2010 11:23 pm

So I'm a filmmaker and I just figured I'd ask around all my online communities if anyone was up to help me. I have a couple ideas for scripts that I want to make into either shorts of full length films. I'm so eager to make something more than a school project (I'm a working on getting my Bachelors of Arts in Digital Filmmaking at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh), but I lack one vital quality... I'm in no way a write.

I'm good at it, but I can never bring myself to finish writings. I just don't have the motivation and love for writing that some people do. I'm sure there are some of you out there that do have that love for writing.

My request is that someone that genuinely likes to write helps me write a script. If you don't know how to write scripts, I can teach you easily (I've taken three college courses on it, two here at the Art Institute and one at Penn State University). You'll obviously have creative input too and get credit with the final film. If I decide it's good enough to be sold (using Amazon digital download, amazon dvd sales, and possibly netflix) then you'll get paid, which can be discussed individually.

Edit: BTW, I'm not completely just some newbie posting this randomly. I used to be Balida and I was here for about a year before leaving for a few months and coming back now as Eurentus. I love this community :) I'd love your help.

I do love to write. I've never written a script before, although I have certainly thought about doing it. I mostly do alternative history and sci-fi stuff and like military stories. But, whatever you're doing, I guess I could help.

You'd have to teach me script writing though.

That was fast :) I love the same kind of things, and thats eventually what I want to be making. Right now I just don't have the resources do to that kind of script any justice once it's made into a movie though.

What kind of ideas do you have about alternative history. I don't think this is at all what you mean, but lately I've been trying to work on this one story/script. It follows a man that survived a near-apocalyptic war between the two major nations (which could be fictional or real ones). He often talks about things that happened and flashbacks occur. It would be pretty politically commenting, making stabs at a lot that is wrong with the world today.

Thats just one idea, something I thought you may be interested in. I have about two or three other ideas I'm trying to turn into solid stories as well. If you have anything that you think an idie filmmaker would be able to pull of, feel free to share it with me, I might fall in love with it.

And I like the enthusiasm. Scriptwriting isn't really that hard, takes a few weeks to pick up if you're a good learner.

That post apocalyptic thing sounds good. I have god-only-knows how many unfinished short stories on my hard drive. Maybe you could turn one of them into a movie.

If you want me to send an example of my writing, I'd be happy to do so.

And as a final point on my...resume, let's call it, the longest story I've written is like 73 pages long, and still in progress.

You can email me at craiginzana@stu.aii.edu . I'd love to take a look at some of your writing. Go ahead and send me anything you think is good. I'll let you know what I think.

Sounds good. I'll send you some of my shorter stuff, unless you really have time for 73 pages. lol

lol, shorter stuff sounds good. I'd still like to see the longer one though. I might find the time one of these days, or just skim over it.

alright. Just a warning about the longer one. I started it like two years ago, when I sucked at writing. So the writing gets better and better as the story progresses. Don't get turned off by the low-quality beginning.

Well yea. Have you written anything previously? I'd love to work with as many people I can :)

(If it were up to me, I'd be cracking out 4 films a year like Jean-Luc Godard did.)

Understandable. I'll look over that :)

Lots of things... Only one or two of which I thought were good; but then again, I don't really trust myself since I stress alot over my writing and I've never had any real feedback.

Cool. Any chance I can take a look at one thing you think is your best? My email is above.

lol, just thought of this. For anyone that might be paranoid about me "stealing" your ideas. You can totally sue me if I do that. I give you permission. My name is Craig James Inzana. That should let you legally find me if that would happen. (precautions, precautions, lol.)

And I dunno if the name means anything without a birth certificate. :lol2:

haha, there's not really a limit. I'm just check people's writing out right now. There's still room :)

The Rich Port I guess not, ha. Oh well, it's something. What kind of fanfiction? Only problem with that kind of this is copyright issues. Then again, if it's not sold and it doesn't take much money to produce, then copyright doesn't really matter.

My email is now in my sig... or at least it will be in a few minutes.

 I've heard the stories of people who try to sell their fanfiction. Ridicule, lawsuits, the secret police... Not my thing, really.

It is a dark Sailor Moon fanfiction (VERBRECHEN DER GOTTER, which is German for "Crimes of the Gods"), meant to portray the characters in a bit of a more critical and analytical light. For example: the OP, a conniving police conscript fighting to preserve the healthcare of his vegetative mother, kidnaps the romance-prone Sailor Venus, taunting her with all of the men she has had and the dependence she has on relationships, including the way she teased him beforehand (the OP). He then throws a veil on her and proceeds to torture the shit out of her, all the while singing "Here Comes The Bride".

Sick shit... But also funny, thought-inspiring shit. None of the torture is graphic, of course. They don't allow it on FF.net. Which is weird, considering there's weirder shit going about the place. *shrugs*

Here is a link to it.

P.S.: I'm not your average fanfiction writer

I'd be interested in talking to a potential scifi author, regardless of if its for screenplay on a somewhat regular basis. What time zone are you and what means of messaging do you have? If you'll have me of course. I'm working on a fantasy dystopia at the moment (they have assault rifles and shit though), but it's always good to talk to someone of the same trade and bounce back ideas and criticisms.

I've been writing on and off for years, but never had a writing friend :( I have friends who are specialist in games design and 3d to bounce ideas off, but not writing.

I've done quite a bit of scifi writing. I've never finished anything, but I've got a LOT of ideas. I'm always looking for projects to collaborate and such on.
