What will become of Marilyn Manson?

Postby Coletra » Mon Nov 29, 2010 6:16 pm

After his album called The High End of Low sold around 200,000 copies worldwide( which is apparently low to them) Interscope has decided to drop Marilyn Manson from the label. Now he has signed with a U.K record label and plans to release an album in 2011. His new label has said that their goal is to sell more then 500,000 copies of his album, and that they will release it in 47 countries. So my question to NSG is this, will Marilyn Manson, the antichrist superstar, flop and fade into obscurity, or will his next album propel him back into the spotlight? I think we need another school shooting so people will blame it on Marilyn which ironically enough propelled his fame.

The question is, is he worth having a comeback?

Most of his fanbase are old enough to know better and nowadays he's about as edgy as a pack of pink woolly earmuffs. The only way he could really 'shock' us now is to actually release some good material.
Are these "human rights" in the room with us right now?

I alway loved the guy. Either way, his life should be good, retired or not.

It was repetitive ill give it that, but Arma-God-Damn-Mother-Fucking-Gheddon and Were From America were not bad songs.

I think it is just a sign of the record industry in general. If you think about it, his 2007 album sold more, but had a lower debut. Nowadays albums are not just bought that much anymore, compared to when 'Antichrist Superstar'' sold two million copies

I didn't like Arma-blablabla, but We're From America was pretty damned good - almost good enough to be a Golden Age Of Grotesque track. I hope to god we can get another album the quality of GAOG...

I would say Antichrist Superstar, but that is impossible. I'm glad he left Interscope. He said they didnt let him have any creative control over the album.

I was never big on Antichrist Superstar, oddly enough. My favorites are Portait of An American Family, Holywood, and Golden Age Of Grotesque. Mechanical Animals, Smells Like Teen Children, The High End Of Low and Antichrist Superstar to me were just "Meh." While Eat Me, Drink Me, is a horrid, horrendous, vomitous pile of leper shit that needs to be burned and erased from history.

Eat Me drink me was probably what fucked it all up in the first place. The message wasnt really clear and I think he rushed it a little. Also, twiggy wasnt on it.

Twiggy also wasn't on Golden age, either.
