Celebrating the Best and the Worst of Cinema

So movies in one form or another have been around since the early 1900s. So in everyones opinion what are your favorite films? It doesn't have to be in any particular order.

What's your favorite genre? Do you have a favorite director/actor/writer?

Or is there some movies that you just want to trash.

I'm just a big film nut and I hope there are many others out here on NSG.
MINOR/BLAAT 2016: They'll Drink To That For America
Dumb Ideologies - NSG is argument porn
Greater Cabinda - You are the Drunken Master.
Nanatsu no Tsuki - Titty... titties are so beautiful.
Ailiailia - It's Minoriteeburg, our cheap substitute for Drunk Commies.
The Blaatschapen - Now, if there exists a person with two penises, he can shave the pubes of the right one that way. If he then gets an erection he could say he's doing a Nazi salute.

Genre: What I watch the most of are action flicks, because they're good for low-brain evenings. I like well-plotted dramas (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Lion in Winter) more, and it's hard to beat a penetrating documentary like Fog of War.

Director: I have nearly everything Kurosawa directed. Ridley Scott's done some good work (Blade Runner, Gladiator), but he's got more misses than hits in my book, and he's kept trying to re-shoot Gladiator with different window-dressing (The Kingdom of Heaven,Robin Hood), which is just sad. And some guy did a trilogy about a bunch of short guys and a bit of jewelry which wasn't bad either. :)

Random favorites: Flying People, Hidden Wires Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle (I have a certain weakness for parody), Das Boot, and the obscure documentary Air Guitar Nation.

Edit: and some real brain candy: The Empire Stikes Back, and the 1980-something remake of Flash Gordon.

Gollum died for your sins.
Power is an equal-opportunity corrupter.

Das Boot....4 and a half hours of greatness (if you watch the directors cut) :D
