Ender's Game

Postby Nightkill the Emperor » Sat Oct 30, 2010 8:54 pm

What does everyone think?

I loved it, but was a bit miffy on the rest of the series. It can be said, however, that the Shadow series was pure epicness. I loved the character of Peter Wiggin, and wished he had gotten more time in the books. My favorite was probably Ender in Exile though, second is Ender's Game. Then Shadow of the Hegemon. (Damn sad when Bean has to go to space.)

Tiami is cool.
Nat: Night's always in some bizarre state somewhere between "intoxicated enough to kill a hair metal lead singer" and "annoying Mormon missionary sober".

Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

I liked it, it's one of a few books that I've reread more than half a dozen times. Also a fan of the series though, at some points, the christian mythos gets just a tad overwhelming.

EDIT: I like the shadow series as well . . .it's more interesting in some ways though enders game has the advantage of giving the most in depth explanation and account of the game and battle/tactical school.

I've only read Ender's Game, none of the other books. Seemed pretty interesting.

Man, that's a book I haven't read in at least 5 years. I remember the ending devastated me, I was kind of a youngin' though. Ender's Shadow was great and I loved the two remaining books in Bean's storyline, even though Shadow and Game are my favorites.

Two remaining? Shadow went on for four books.

I've only read Game. It was okay but I think it's overrated to be honest. Everyone talks about how brilliant it is, an instant classic and whatnot. I don't really see it. I guess part of my problem is I'm not interested in reading about prodigies. They don't make good protagonists.

It's been years since I've read them, there was Hegemon and the one before that. Was there one after Hegemon?

Oh, wait, I've read all of those. Hegemon and Puppets are the two I remember most vividly though, Achilles was an awesome antagonist. I guess I didn't really see much left to Bean's story after Achilles was resolved. I remember the whole Anton's Key thing and not much else about Shadow of the Giant.

I'm writing an essay about the Seven Deadly Sins and how they relate to Peter.

I've read the original short story in a military sci-fi anthology someone bought me last Christmas and I was impressed.

I've also read another short story in the series. Can't remember the name, but Ender, his sister and a greedy tax inspector were all involved, as well as some AI. Apparently it was supposed to be the story of how Ender and this AI met, if I recall correctly.
