I dunno.
It's about the Scandinavian team finding the darn thing, and they say they're gonna try to use the same old-style special effects for the Thing.

Maybe, just maybe it'll be decent.

I LOATHE modern "horror". Torture porn, they call it. People doing horrible things to other people. It's not true horror. It doesn't get in to your head, it's just disgusting.

I love a good psych-paranormal flick. The Shining is an awesome example.

Yes.

Unless of course it's not OK for a woman to ask for a female to ask for a female officer to carry out body checks. In which case, the answer would be no.

"Let the right one in" was kinda scary. More like disturbing, though.

THERE'S something that's disturbing.

SotL was a great movie, but if you're going for sheer atrocity, it's not as bad as it could be. Which is probably a good thing, it'd turn into another slasher if that was the case.

If your going for atrocity and sheer OMG so many guts. You'll want after world

If you want sheer atrocity and not necessarily OMG so many guts, I'd highly recommend one of my favorites, Pink Flamingos.

It's actually a prequel, not a remake. Of course that says nothing about whether or not it'll be any good.

Oh guys!

Philosophy of a Knife. That one's also p. freaky cause it's more of a documentary than an actual film, about Unit 731 in WWII. And the fact that the very real guy who was in charge of it got PARDONED by the US government and taught at a university here.

I've heard good things about Jacob's Ladder. And the one clip I saw was quite the show.

Blond Japanese girl crying at the end? Priceless.

But honestly I don't find movies all that troubling... My friend and I laughed at the eyeball scene in Hostel. It was seriously way over the top. (and the gang of ebil kids? hilarious...)

When you watch with a couple of friends with a relaxed atmosphere, there are probably no movies that are scary. It's too easy to say "haha, yeah this is so fake, so stupid, haha" while laughing with your buddies. Like the poster that replied to me said, horror movies are really about atmosphere and tone. Basically, it's best to watch these movies when it's dark outside and when you're home alone. Then the atmosphere suits the movie, and only then you can judge whether something is truly scary.

This reminds me of a friend of mine, who thinks Fear (videogame) isn't scary. He does play it when it's sunny outside, he has tl-light on and he always puts his volume very low. I mean, wtf, nothing is scary when you see/play it like that.

Also, imo Hostel isn't supposed to be scary. It's rather a thriller that has bloody scenes in it. I guess the scary part is that it maybe could really happen somewhere.

I agree. Fear 2 as well. Games are so much more engrossing than movies. Even when I am alone at night in a dark room or in a theater, movies don't really bother me. (The exception is IT, but I watched that when I was very young. I actually haven't seen it in a long time, so I bet it won't bother me so much anymore. )

Well I agree with you when it comes to Hollywood horror movies. Most of these are actually pretty weak. But Ringu was very scary, and the power of it is that the effect was achieved with little to no gore. Gore kills horror movies imo. Atmosphere is key, and the Japanese understand it well. Of course, I've only seen Ringu so I really can't generalize my experience to Japanese horror in general. But others who recommended me Japanese horror probably can. In a recent shopping spree I've actually bought every Japanese horror movie that was recommended to me, but I didn't have the cojones yet to watch em.
