Next time you're at the video store, check it out. It is an amazing masterpiece. Kept me up for days on end. Had me eying my dog cautiously too.

None of them. Really, most of the movies you put on that poll aren't actually scary.

Also, I don't see even so much as a Japanese horror movie. Fail poll is fail.

I don't go to video stores... heh...

I think I actually did see some of the ending once. They were in Antarctica or something? It was cold?

Oh yes, they were in Antarctica. I hear they show the movie on the last replacement flights every year down there, tempting fate. :p

It's Nightkill. He's been there so long he rents out rooms to other people at a flat rate, but demands cash up front.

Remains of the Day
The kind of middle-class mentality which actuates both those responsible for strategy and government has little knowledge of the new psychology and organizing ability of the totalitarian States. The forces we are fighting are governed neither by the old strategy nor follow the old tactics.

I'm just gonna toss in The Entity for good measure. I heard the first Paranormal Activity or one of those other relatively current flicks had something similar happen once in it, but the entire movie is centered around an extremely violent and horrible idea, as far as i'm concerned, so that's where my vote goes. Plus some measure of it, don't know how much, has some truth to it, which makes it worse than just fucked up imagination.

Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone. Think about it: in this chilling vision of the future, sex and junk food are illegal, the radio plays commercial jingles all day long, and all the restaurants are Taco Bell. If that's not scary, I don't know what is.

Anyone could be it. They would act, look, seem exactly like themselves... And then, all it would take is a single moment alone...

Pardon? The Thing is the scariest movie I've seen, surpassing every other horror movie and game I've seen or played. The scene where it looks up at them, surrounded by humans, staring passively... Then lifts up it's malformed claw, opens it mouth, and screams an inhuman groan... *shudder*

You ever watch the B&W version? It wasn't bad either. I do appreciate your assessment though, Carpenter's version is pretty damned intense.
