Well time dilation would allow you to travel forward in time by approaching the speed of light closely enough. And nothing in modern physics absolutely rules out the possibility of travel backward in time - although it will probably turn out not to be possible. I'd go forward. Nothing in the past seem that appealing to me.

I wouldn't call a machine that can do time dilation a time machine, but yes you're right.
I would think that a time machine has the ability to go back/forward in time and then go back to the present time again. Semantics semantics.

Time is everywhere at once, us humans can only perceive it in one direction though.

Go forward, fine lottery results, go back again.

Anyone who says they wouldn't is lying and/or rich already.

I would go back to the middle ages with some serious firepower, declare myself god, and rule the world for a couple of centuries.

God, I wish I was able to build a Time Machine, so I can take a female T-Rex from the late Cretaceous and (if GM technology is so advanced) GM her to make her sapient and then (if transmogrification technology was possible) transform myself into a sapient T-Rex.

We don't really understand what time is.

I have no doubt that time travel is possible though.
