This thread made me cry. First of all, we all know that in video games and cartoons etc. the age of the characters don't really change unless the author wants it, this is what makes the video games so great, Yoshi would remain the cute little innocent dinosaur we all grew up with, I wouldn't even want to think of Yoshi suddenly growing a bear and having sex with female yoshis, and this of course counts for many, many characters from video games and cartoons that I grew up with, could you possibly imagine an Ash around 20 years old? Well, I know I can imagine that but I'd rather not want to.

In real life, Mario would probably have died years ago after eating a bad 'shroom. Why else would he talk to 'shrooms, jump on brown, 'walking' shrooms with 'angry faces', and save the 'princess' from oversized miscolored turtles? He is fictional and is thus immune to the effects of time. Why else would Princess Toadstool/Peach still look underage after all these years? Plastic surgery? Nope.

So wait, if we assume that all these video game characters are now middle-aged and greying, what about the consoles? What have they been doing after all these years? Well, hypothetically, if my calculations are correct...
A) NES was part of the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2003
B) The Atari 2600 quit the console buisness after PONG died in Croatia
C) PS1 is currently dating Virtual Boy and is growing a mustache
D) Genesis got a DWUI (Byronic Person's term for 'Driving While Under the Influence') and punched out a cop
E) All the failed consoles of the great American video game crash of '83 are construction workers...
