Zombies vs. Vampires

Postby Mediterreania » Wed Oct 13, 2010 4:19 pm

There are three versions of zombies:
  1. Living people enslaved with voodoo and turned into a human puppet
  2. People infected with some sort of undead virus
  3. The living dead, reanimated but mindless

There are three versions of vampires:
  1. Bloodthirsty monsters of the night
  2. Suave and sophisticated bloodsucking undead
  3. Sparkly fucking Twilight things

So which do you prefer? I personally prefer the zombies from Max Brooks's World War Z.

Zombies, no problems during daylight, and eventually, without any living beings for the Vampires to feed on, they'll starve them out. Whereas, a Zombie can't starve, it's already dead.

But Zombies are also ridiculously slow, usually. Furthermore, they have no concept of stealth or social acceptability. With a low infection rate, Vampires can keep the human supply going indefinitely.

The problem is that vamprism (did I spell that right?) takes ma long and complicated ritual to spread (at least that's the classic version). Zombiism can spread through just one bite, or a chunk of infected flesh.

Well, it depends on where you get your mythology from. In many myths, a Vampire can be created by being born on a certain day or having something unfortunate happen to them at their funeral/after their death, with no previous vampire needed to create another vampire, an advantage over modern (But not voodoo) zombies.

You have a good point.
I prefer to belive it's spread from vampire to vampires. Makes it more modern and believable.

I like vampires that don't pretend to be ugly zombie things, and that don't sparkle!

I vote for zombies because they will be alot more fun to kill. Rather than having vampires who are 2x times or more stronger than you....at times. And chasing you and trying to eat you.

I gotta go with vampires. If you think zombies will never sparkle, just wait a few Twilight books. They'll sparkle and their sparkling will put Edward to shame. We should all do what Nintendo does to the CD-i Zelda and Mario games and deny Twilight ever existed.

Everyone seems to be forgetting Castlevania's Dracula. In the games, Death works for Dracula. Death. Plus, you need the Vampire Killer to kill Dracula. Not stakes. Not thermonuclear weaponry. Not really bad music. The Vampire Killer. Zombies, meanwhile, are vulnerable to the common shotgun. And handguns if your aim is good. And rifles. And shovels. Just about anything would be able to take the un out of undead.

Zompires. Undead rotting beasts that feed on blood and brains and are killed by sunlight.

Zombies that do not need to eat and spread via both airborne and fluid-borne viruses.

Way more threatening than some cruddy vampire. Especially given the whole "vampires need humans, zombies don't" thing. Any kind of vampire outbreak could be combated. An airborne zombie virus would basically end the world.

There is a zombie apocalypse. I've never heard of a vampire apocalypse.

Well, duh. That's because after the vampire apocalypse you'll be dead.
Or a vampire.

I thought vampires just needed blood; doesn't necessarily have to be human blood. Also, after the zombies run out of fresh meat to consume, they will either decompose or turn on each other. Not a pretty sight.

Mindless mooks with a unending hunger for brains and flesh versus high-class aristocracy with a easily fulfilled thirst for blood. No contest.

Zombies! Everyone knows that vampires can't drink dead blood. Tom Cruise said so.
