Your Favorite Scary Story!

Postby Old Erisia » Tue Oct 12, 2010 3:03 am

Yes it's that time of year again where crappy horror movies and candy with extra dye flood the market. Its scary story time! Do you guys have a story you really like or perhaps one you wrote? Please share! I guess you could rate them if you want... just be sure to give some actual criticism with your rating ;)

Rather not a movie, but a musical: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I had to read it in school - it was quite enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who likes schizophrenic, cannibalistic, singing, pie-making barbers in Victorian England.

Oh, I saw the movie and really enjoyed that... I know, lame, but it was good. I should probably read it at some point, although it wouldn't have the same effect as the stage.

I remember reading this as a child and really enjoying it. My brother and I played a prank on my sister, where I told the story and expanded it while my bro hid in the woods and started shouting "who has my big toe!". He started quietly and we would pretend not to hear him, then my bro got closer and closer... my sister cried :P

the Big Toe

Yeah the narrator sounds dumb... I need to find something better...

I hate horror movies with a passion; the plot is almost non-existent or it's just plain stupid and it seems the only thing the director is trying to do is fit as much gore and nudity into an hour as is humanly possible. Admittedly, not all horror movies are like this, but the majority is. Horror movies are supposed to scare you, not annoy you. Gore isn't scary, at least not to me. It's just there to make you realize that the characters are actually human inside(even if it is hard to believe by the acting), and to make you go 'Eww...that guy's head exploded!" Okay, sorry, I'm ranting. Anyway, the old Night of the Living Dead is probably my favorite horror story, or the Exorcist. Book-wise I'd have to pick Clive Barker's Books of Blood or Stephen King's 'It'.

I like creepypasta, don't really have a favorite, tbh.

I understand :) I just find it scary that so many good people can be manipulated to support such a terrible regime.
