The Who vs The Beatles

Postby Sailsia » Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:52 am

Both great bands, but which one do you prefer? The Who is better in my opinion.

The Who. I like more Beatles songs, but I wouldn't listen to them as often as I listen to the Who.

Beatles. The Who are great, but The Beatles were, probably one of , if not the, greatest rock bands ever.

The Who has Quadrophenia, & Tommy. The only album I can think of made by the Beatles comparable to either is White Album. And even then, its mostly because it has Helter Skelter.

This is actually a debate? The Beatles are the greatest band of all time, not just of their era.

No. I rank Queen ahead of the Beatles personally, and Queen isn't even at my number 1. The Beatles had some interesting songs, but by no means are they the BEST rock band EVER. (but thats for another thread)

What the hell are you listening to? Ask any serious music person and the Beatles will be #1 on any of their list. It's The Beatles #1 and Led Zeppelin #2. No Who.

I'm not saying the Beatles are bad, so don't get me wrong, they're all great albums, but the Beatles didn't have the same energy as The Who. Certain songs did, but not the majority like in the Who's case.

I would have to say

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Queen
The Beatles

And I have my reasons for putting them in that order. The Beatles had some really goods songs, bu the band its self in my opinion didn't have the same energy. Pink Floyd and The Who had similar messages, but they weren't so hippy-like. Led Zeppelin too, but saying that they were never as involved with the 60's as the Beatles would just be crazy.

Can anyone here Imagine Horatio's one liners having the same Memeability if they had used one of The Beatles songs for the CSI Miami theme?

The Who, obviously. The Beatles are nice, but they don't rock.

Don't know the Who, but the Beatles are massively overrated, and I find them rather irritating most of the time.

Hi.

That's wrong. Led Zeppelin is nowhere near my top 50, or 500 for that matter and The Beatles aren't very high on my list either. The Who is up there in the Top 20 for me, above those two.

The Who, obviously.
Although I like the film Help! by The Beatles, and the songs used in that one, Tommy is just great. I saw it live. (although the lyrics were translated in Dutch and it was played by the band Di-Rect, I loved it) And come on, Baba O'Riley, Won't get Fooled Again and Who Are You really are great. Don't forget that The Who had Keith Moon (YEAH!) and The Beatles are, although better than The Stones, are heavily overrated. And don't call me someone who knows nothing about music, unless you know the bands Apocalyptica and Blind Melon and the artist Titiyo.
