The Next Greatest Fail Movie from SyFy

Postby Belkaland » Fri Sep 17, 2010 1:59 pm

They brought you the worse monster movies ever, topping off with the epic fail that was Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. Now they seek to top even that with their next Greatest Fail, Sharktopus!!

Seriously, why the hell does SyFy spend money on this shit?

Because it's friggin' hilarious. Besides, I think it's pretty clear they don't spend much of it.

As far as I can see, their only mistake is that they mix violence & blatant bikini-based sexploitation. If you keep the two separate, it's perfectly good. Just mixing them grates a bit.

It sounds like a winning combination, but it fails because they don't realize what the Japanese did hundreds of years ago: tentacles are for raping people.

No one (OK, few people) want to see some bimbo killed off screen, much better for some monster to 'attack' her, than attack her. :P

Well, yes. By 'Violence' I was explicitly thinking of 'Dead people and blood and ewwww'. That just doesn't go together with sexploitation. Not for me, anyway.

Mere 'Attacking' rather than attacking on the other hand, would make it film of the year, no question.

Total budget, $600,000, and, the only reason they'll make money is that they have lots of women!

I find the movies annoyingly terrible, but hilariously stupid.

At least their mini-series' are good "Tin Man", "Alice" (though that didn't get very good reviews), et al.

Also Stargate Universe is by far one of the best Stargate spin-offs. If you love exploring cultural and social mores then you'll really appreciate this show.

And SyFy is the only place that I can watch ANY Star Trek (which is great, even though I'm not a real trekkie.)

Dude, SGU is by far the worse of the Stargate series. I was a major fan of Stargate, watched all the episodes, bought all the DVDs, etc. And when SGU came out, I knew from the start it was crap. First off, they used that stupid camera panning & zooming from nBSG when flying through space, gave me headaches. Then they didn't give us a solid main enemy like the Goa'uld or Wraith. And the death blow was them making it a bloody soap opera in space. If I want a soap opera in Space, I'll go watch Star Trek:TOS.

SGU has utterly killed my interest in Stargate.

I think that is why they did it though. Not too many people were watching SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis so they went down a different path. Whereas it pushed you away, it pulled me back into the series.

Unique fetishes revolving around octopi never end well. They become horrifying when you add them together with horrible CGI graphics and so many plot-holes your head explodes. Plus it's really just a crappy remake of a crappy Italian film in the 80s revolving around the same concept.

Personally, I think the acting is so bad that I'll stick with team Sharktopus. Go team Sharktopus!

SyFy just probably want to find the next best thing, the problem is that they may have taken the wrong route.
