Given that Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga had far more audience in their first 24h of shows than Mozart ever did, they are superior to Mozart, right?

Nowadays you could probably cram dog shit in a fancy box, and if you waste enough money hyping it, it would still have a lot of first sales and preorders.

He didn't say Halo was superior, he said it did alright. Which can't really be argued with. Even if it's shit it made a lot of money.

If it didn't, there would be red-hot pins in my eyes right now, I was that psyched. God, it was worth the wait. My best friend and I were frantically counting the days, and even working out how many hours, minutes and seconds we'd have to wait until it came out (we did this three times).

The big deal about Halo is not that it does anything no other game has done before, but it does it better. Halo games are among the best presented most polished games you can find; each one is meticulously crafted from the very beginning like a Michelangelo statue (though not quite the same quality). They also do a great deal of fan service and craft their universe to appeal to sci-fi lovers of all stripes they make references to Star Wars, Star Trek, and Firefly for instance, they also adopted internet memes and even a cartoon series that makes fun of their game into the universe.

As for Reach, I like it, its not super special but it once more does everything right (I miss dual wielding weapons though) there are almost no bugs or glitches and the narrative is tight and keeps you drawn in. Multiplayer's matchmaking system ensures you want get tossed into arenas where you get clobbered by far superior players and I like the number of custom options you have for your Spartans. Things I didn't like are the firefight loadouts, I'd rather be able to pick my weapons and special ability separately than from groups; and they once more made stealth essentially pointless since the only thing you can sneak up on are other players who aren't watching their motion detectors.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Everything Halo has done has been done before, and done better. The last time Halo was innovative was 2001.

SaintB wrote:Halo games are among the best presented most polished games you can find; each one is meticulously crafted from the very beginning like a Michelangelo statue (though not quite the same quality)

What? The graphic engine is horrendously out-dated, the voice acting is cheesy, the animation is slovenly and the whole single-player campaign is added on as an afterthought. Halo: ODST looked like the fucking Thunderbirds, for Christ's sake. Half-Life is meticulously crafted. Halo is being shat out so fast that, at one point, three sodding games were being developed at the same time. ODST only came out a year after Halo 3 - Reach only a year later - and they already have a Halo 4 in the works.

SaintB wrote:They also do a great deal of fan service and craft their universe to appeal to sci-fi lovers of all stripes they make references to Star Wars, Star Trek, and Firefly for instance, they also adopted internet memes and even a cartoon series that makes fun of their game into the universe.

Which is a way of saying that the story is an utter cliche storm. Unambiguously malevolent aliens versus unambiguously benevolent humans. It's the oldest story in the book, and again, has been done before and done better.

One of the best parts about this game was that the main char. dies. Not like all of the other typical games where the main char. beats the antagonist and goes back to his home and gets rewarded or something along those lines. The post-credits scene is pretty damn awesome, too.

Well my friends who have Xboxes like it, which is nice, but one made me watch a video of the game play and I was like... meh. I didn't see anything that would make me go 'whoaaa crazy awesome' or some other such silly adjectives, unlike maybe Heavy Rain or Flower, or something. I guess I don't get excited about much though. I'm sure it's a decent game. Whatever. I'm looking forward to LittleBigPlanet 2, Final Fantasy XIV (if my internet wants to work properly...) and DJ Hero 2 to be honest.

It does live up, a 360 Fan Boy.

When i finished halo: Combat Evolved 1 Year, 7 Months ago, I wondered, How did The Pillar of Autumn get to the rings, it's for the game, not the novel.

A week ago, got Halo: Reach, my best friend says it could Reach up it's balls, but it's short, but new equipment, and considered it 3rd, in order of Halo Games

Halo 1 - 1
Halo 3 - 2
Halo Reach - 3
Halo 2 - 4
Halo 3 ODST - 5
Halo Wars - 11

they're going to continue until it's almost completely dry, when they know they're done making good games, sell the rights to the next one to EA.

Bungie themselves said that Reach was the last Halo game that would be made by them. Also, why wouldn't they milk this huge cash cow? As long as the games are good and they don't rip the arse out of it, I don't have a problem.

Bungie are not going to make another Halo game. 343 In industries, however, will develop one soon. Microsoft appear to be planning a Halo release next year to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

Microsoft have said that now Bungie have finished with Halo, releases of games in the franchise will become more frequent: http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=22424

COD Black Ops is supposed to be a guaranteed great game, but I haven't always had the best experience with Hal games in the past. Of course, I haven't played anything past halo 2, so many the game is better then I remember.

The primary reason I bought the game was simply on name alone. I hadn't really looked too much into the Reach game, I just knew that the storylines from previous games and books in the series was fantastic. As I played through the campaign though, I didn't really get into it. The characters were just characters, imitations of real people with well delivered one liners and an implied history. There was no attachment made to Noble 6 as compared to Master Chief or Kat compared to Sergeant Major Johnson. There were moments of implied loss when people died but I could care less about them seeing as how I only had 7 hours worth of gameplay to get to know them. Some didn't even make it that long. If I'm going to spend $65 on a game that wowed me in past with it's single player campaign, I'd expect them to at least pay some meager form of tribute for the last one.

As far as multiplayer goes, it's "alright." It's got some new features, different game modes and you can matchmake in Firefight as well. But I know it really all boils down to the same Halo multiplayer we've been playing for years.

Take some maps from older games and update them: check
Take the weapons from older games and update them: check
Take the game modes from older games and don't do anything at all: check
Add one or two things that can possibly break gameplay with time and abuse: check

NEW HALO REACH!
UPDATED! YOU'LL LOVE IT!

I feel like I was cheated by Bungie riding on the backs of it's previous stars. In my opinion it was not worth the $65. I already sold it. (Btw, GameStop will only pay $25 back for trade in. If you've got it, sell it to a friend like I did.)

In my opinion, it was not as good as Halo 2. I think the series was just overly milked past Halo 3, same as Call of Duty. It went downhill mountainside cliff after Modern Warfare (the first one).
