Did Halo: Reach live up to the hype?

Postby Hellestia » Thu Sep 16, 2010 4:45 pm

I'm just wondering what NSG thought of the recently released video game exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Did it live up to the hype? Was it worth the money spent? Would you recommend it to a friend? What are some things you thought that needed improvement?

I didn't get the game because I'm more hyped for COD: Black Ops, but feel free to discuss and share your inputs.

Nothing like MW2. You cannot create custom classes, but there are less random glitches and mods. Personally I like it much better than MW2.

If it was anything like MW2, I'd throw it away.

No, it didn't.
So basically it's continuing the usual Halo story.
Lotta hype, 'meh' game.

I thought Reach was a prequel. Wouldn't that make Halo a continuation of the Reach story?

Halo: Reach I thought was amazing.

Don't look at the Spoiler if you don't want to know anything about the ending!
However I find it weird to have the main character to die though. I know it's Reach and it's supposed to fall but it's weird.

£5 says it will be as mediocre as ever but people will still buy it up like crack cocaine. It's nice to see that game critics are still slashing their integrity to appease the fanboys, though. GamesRadar had to even go as far as giving the single- and multi-player sections separate reviews, just to avoid the inevitable backlash.

Yes, it most certainly did. The plot was really intriguing, too.

One of the best parts about this game was that the main char. dies. Not like all of the other typical games where the main char. beats the antagonist and goes back to his home and gets rewarded or something along those lines. The post-credits scene is pretty damn awesome, too.

Given that Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga had far more audience in their first 24h of shows than Mozart ever did, they are superior to Mozart, right?

Nowadays you could probably cram dog shit in a fancy box, and if you waste enough money hyping it, it would still have a lot of first sales and preorders.

No Halo game has ever lived up to hype. Personally, I hate the whole franchise. And the world would be better without it. [/my opinion]

When it costs a tenner in the pre-owned section, I'll tell you whether it's over-hyped. Until then I won't go anywhere near it even if it's the most amazing game ever made (which is unlikely from my perspective as I don't really see the big deal with Halo).
