I know that North Weidia loves this stuff. i do too, but don't spend too much of my music listening time to it.

I absolutely love King Crimson with unflinching ferocity. I'm a bit "ehh" on Dream Theater, because there is something about the lead singer's voice I just can't get past. I do find Liquid Tension Experiment fucking amazing though (it's Dream Theater without the singer)

I also love Tool and to a lesser extent the Mars Volta. I haven't really listen to Rush, but my brother assures me they are good (we tend to share the same tastes, except in some glaring instances).

Have you listened to the 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus by Spirit? The album is not quite prog per se... more like "proto-prog".

You spelt my name wrong... :meh:

I looooovvvvveeee prog. Pink Floyd, U.K., Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, TMV, Asia, Dream Theater, ELP, PFM, Le Orme, Genesis, Banco, DFA... did I miss any?

I never really liked Rush, though. I can listen to it, like, on Pandora, but I would rather listen to something else. I think it may be Geddy's vocals.

I also like Fusion acts, like Return to Forever, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra...

Favorite band? Pink Floyd. Favorite album? U.K.'s self titled one. Favorite song? Tie between "Close to the Edge", "Us and Them", and "Supper's Ready". Favorite vocalist, John Wetton, favorite drummer, Carl Palmer, favorite bassist, Chris Squire, favorite guitarist, David Gilmour, favorite keyboardist, Keith Emerson, favorite violinist, Eddie Jobson.

If I had to reccomend one album from all of the above bands (besides DFA - haven't gotten my hands on any songs but what I've heard is phenomenal), I would say Dark Side of the Moon, U.K., Close to the Edge, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Stand Up, Frances the Mute, Alpha, Octavarium, Brain Salad Surgery, Storia di un Minuto, Felona e Sorona, Foxtrot, and Darwin!

Also, MUSE ISN'T PROG. GOSH.

Because it sounds more like a mix between hard rock and experimental rock.

Tool is prog but its not metal in any way shape or form.

That being said I really enjoy The Mars Volta but I'm more into black metal or heavy metal myself.

Really now?

And Tool doesn't really incorporate elements of Art Rock, there's very little Metal about them either. They're Prog Rock, but they're a little light on the Prog elements as well. Alternative Metal isn't an actual genre, it's a term made up by journalists for vaguely Metal bands that they don't want to dump into Nu-Metal. Alternative Metal has absolutely no unifying sound.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

Depends what mood you get me in. If I'm chilling out and relaxed something gentle like Tool can be just right. Generally though when I'm in that mood I listen to electronica of various kinds though.
