Graphically avatar was amazing. However, I feel the storyline was poor.

I'm a big fan of the oldies. The best film I have seen to date is without peer Casablanca.

Though this is a gross simplification of both plots, it does highlight the similarities in structure quite well;

That said, probably the best movie I've ever seen would have to be Children of Men. The acting was magnificent on all accounts, the cinematography a masterwork, and the entire atmosphere was meticulously crafted to create the perfect gray, crumbling future.

I'd have to say Grave of the Fireflies is pretty damn good. Anyone who watches that movie and doesn't cry is a fucking robot.

Avatar was just Pocahontas with blue aliens replacing Native Americans and the John Smith figure staying instead of going home. Even the Navi language was based on a Native American language. People need to stop being all "Ooooh! Shiney!" I can understand why people were like that in the 1930's with cartoon films; but after over a century of motion picture technology and almost ninety years of cartoons people shouldn't be so easily overwhelmed by the latest CG technology.

I found it to be more or less like a cross between Star Wars and Dances with Wolves. Anyways, my favorite movie has to be Inglorious Basterds. 8)
