Favourites...

  • Rayman 2: The Great Escape - as far as I am concerned, it was what Donkey Kong 64 should have been like. Fast, hilarious, and just plain enjoyable. By which I mean awesome
  • Super Mario 64 - well, I'm a sucker for platformers... And it doesn't have a kiddo princess that makes you feel all kinds of bad about playing a fat italian plumber in search of a little girl. Peach's actually of an acceptable age here, unlike her depiction in certain more recent releases
  • Goldeneye - well, I've got to admit it. I suck at FPSes. Badly. I did beat it on agent, I did beat a couple missions on secret agents, and one (1) mission - Facility - I even beat in 00 agent. But despite my legendary suckiness at FPSes... Still enjoyable

And overrated ones...

  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - certainly, it's an enjoyable game (Although I'm allergic to dungeons, and to this day, think that Zelda: Links Awakening is the most enjoyable Zelda ever. The original, not the DX version that got rid of a lot of the sexual references. Nintendo, you're a bunch of fucking pussies). But 'Revolutionary'? It's Mario 64 with less jumping and more swords. A great game, but please stop with the 'Best Ever' or 'Revolutionary' nonsense
  • Donkey Kong 64 - first of all, it was uglier than the SNES ones. In three-dee, yes, but uglier. Secondly, in terms of gameplay, it was just a Banjo-Kazooie clone - which was an enjoyable game in its own right, but I didn't really need a clone. I'm okay with paying for a game just once. Thirdly, seriously, RARE. Seriously. Too many fucking moves. I regularly had to look them up. The cart races were also fucking unplayable. And finally, I got stuck mid-game because it was impossible to beat the second incarnation of the giant lavaboss or whatever it was as the giant kong - I punch and punch but he just wont fall over... No idea why, it's meant to work, it just doesn't for me
  • Shadowman - I bought it (Foolishly) due to its very good reviews. The reviewers must've played some other game, though. Awkward controls and a sea of brown pretending to be 'Graphics' produced a desinteresting failure I never played enough to reach the first boss. While OoT is a legitimately brilliant game that's simply rated a little higher than it should be, and Donkey Kong 64 is still okay despite its weaknesses, Shadowman is a legitimately horrible, shit, and catastrophically bad game

I wish I'd played...

  • Conker's Bad Fur Day - sadly, it was released at a pretty late time, when I was already getting away from gaming, and in any case, staggeringly broke. Thus, never acquired it even though, judging from all I've seen, it'd, among other things, have fit my sense of humour perfectly

PS: Also, I wish they'd combined the characters, storyline & art style of Lylat Wars( Starfox 64), which I loved, with the brilliant control scheme of Rogue Squadron. I love Lylat Wars, but the control scheme was a bit silly. I rather dislike Star Wars and can't build up any sort of excitement over its characters doing... stuff... But the Rogue Squadron control scheme was legitimately brilliant.

For single-player my favourite is Goldeneye, which remains the only game I've ever fully completed (in other words, doing every level on every difficulty and unlocking all cheats). Perfect Dark was almost as enjoyable but the characters were too annoying. However, it did have a much better multiplayer system, making it my favourite multiplayer game. F-Zero X was also loads of fun in multiplayer.

I enjoyed Ocarina of Time, but it just wasn't Link to the Past. Mission: Impossible had some great levels, but I found the overall control of the character a little clunky.

I was a big fan of Body Harvest, and the original Turok games. 1 and 2 were awesome fun. Buck Bumble was also pretty cool, too.

Goldeneye was a lot of fun, although Ocarina of Time would be a close second.

...

No, seriously, wat?

Although Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (First one of the two N64 ones, never got my hands on the second one; Completely different genres, of course, but hey, when I like both genres...) was indeed great fun. Somewhat poorish graphics*, questionable camera and rather monotonous enemies, but still remarkably fun (May have been its ludicrously cheesy, and hence awesome soundtrack...)

Ninja girl & robot girl were best <3

... Fuck, I want to play it now.

* I lie. At the time it came out, the graphics were perfectly adequate. Its release in Germany took its sweet time, though, so at the time, I was underwhelmed

Blame nostalgia filters and being in elementary school at the time?

One thing I remember really enjoying about Quest was the wide-open world, it was absolutely massive... probably too much now. And Castlevania... I'm a sucker for the entire series. Honestly... I'm the yahoo who runs an annual Castle Ravenloft D&D game every Halloween... so blame my nostalgia on that ;)
