What happened to Classical music?

Postby Strykla » Fri Aug 20, 2010 11:15 am

No, not classic rock, put Classical. What happened? People these days have no respect for it, instead choosing noise like Lady gaga and Katy perry. Where's the respect? People say that Classical music is stupid, tiresome, and boring. Yeah? musicians played a cello and a violin, not screamed death metal into a mic, not wearing horribly improper clothing. And their music has lasted for hundreds of years.

I have played the violin for about 4 years! My ipod has only classical on it. I've been made fun of because of my passion for classical music.

I like classical music (I play tuba), but I prefer to listen to metal in my spare time. However metal draws influences from classical music.
Cosumaria inhabited the land now known as Cosumar for dozens of generations thousands of years ago. For hundreds of years Cosumaria was prosperous and the citizens were happy. Eventually, the land became more and more corrupt as the Kings became power hungry. This led to a dark time for Cosumaria, the people were oppresed and were stripped of their rights. On the year 1208, a civil war broke out between rebels and the corrupt government. On 1224, the rebels emerged victorious. The rebels founded the nation Cosumar. Ever since, Cosumar has been ruled by a fair line of Kings and have achieved many great things. Cosumaria is now referred to by modern Cosumarites as Ancient Cosumaria.

I like Classical, just not as much as rock and metal. However, I do play a vast amount of classical instruments and implement classical influences in most of my own rock/metal music.

Maybe because it's full of pretentious, pompous douches like you?

I'm a big fan of 20th century Classical, but most of the other stuff doesn't catch my attention, probably because the early stuff was mostly bound by convention.

Clothing is hardly indicative of the quality of music, if an artist's clothing affects your opinion of their music then you've been listening wrong your entire life.

I do like Classical Music, however, I enjoy other music a little better (such as Hatsune Miku :3). I will admit though, it is better than a *lot* of stuff today. :3

Classical music can be enthralling. Though I wouldn't listen to it regularly.

I just realized how ironic it is I'm ranting about how people sometimes disrespect good music, and at the same time I'm listening to Hell March.

I like clasiscal, but it isn't my favorite. Though I will say, if there's two instruments I love, it is the Piano and the violin. Those two devices can create both the saddest and most heart wrenching music, or the most lively and exciting music, I love them. I still like my classic rock, Alt, and Indy more, none of the heavy metal thrasher crap.

It's just not music for the masses. One needs to be a bit more sensitive to music to be able to understand it.

Classical music calms you down. I almost punch someone in the face if it wasn't for classical playing in my mp3 player.

I have to say no genre has had an impact on society more than baroque, classical and romantic instrumental....
