Avatar: The Last Airbender-- The Series

Postby Buffett and Colbert » Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:53 pm

You've probably seen or heard about that monstrosity of a movie, The Last Airbender. Well this thread isn't about that piece of crap. It's about the original Nickelodeon series.

If you've seen the series, what is your opinion of it? Personally, it is by far one of the best television series ever. It is a work of art. Everything is done magnificently, from the plot and characters to art and sound. Even more amazingly, it was done on a kids TV network. The show succeeded in appealing to both children and older folk, even getting an overwhelmingly positive reviewfrom Pajiba (which tells ya something).

So, opinions? And if you haven't seen them but have seen the movie, please don't let that stop you from watching the show. Watching them through and through would be worth it. If it seems a little childish at times, bear with it.

I liked it, it was good at the beginning, but halfway through it started to bore me so I stopped watching. :/

I think I've seen every episode three times, and I still like it. I think Aang is this generation's Captain Planet, but with better animation, plot, dialogue, and character development.

I've seen the show, and I rather liked it. The movie is a complete sack of crap, and I couldn't have thought of a worse person to direct it. Even Michael Bay would've been better. I haven't seen it(teh movie) though.

I rember watching TV the week before it was going to come out thinking that it was going to be crap. Turns out I was wrong. Not the first time with such programs though.

Avatar, the Last Airbender was an excellent series. why? the story was complete and most importantly, the character Development was SPOT ON.

Everyone grew up in that series. you got to KNOW the characters and their struggles.

the fights also grew. from the childish battles between Ang and Zuko to the flowing battle beneath Bah Sing Se and the last battle between the Avatar and the Phoenix King... they all grew with complexity and intensity.

you had serious issues. Like Kitara's struggles in whether or not to use bloodbending, Ang's struggles to balance being the Avatar and being the last Air Nomads, Sokka's struggles in being the only non-bender in a group of Benders, Zukko's finding himself and Toff going from selfish Child to a friend and teammate.

It really was a complete series. one that I hope is replicated in another series sometime soon.
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

I completely agree. This separates it from other series. However:

It's Katara, Aang, Zuko, and Toph. /avatard

I hope it's more than 12 episodes long.

you can do soo much... like book 1 covers her training with the sifus.
Book 2 you have the rise of the Anti-bending movement
book 3 a civil war.
