I dug that movie. It was a long time ago, though, I wonder if I still would.

I watched it again, and I still don't know what to make of it.

"The Butterfly Effect". I wasn't expecting much, but it was actually a brilliant movie, a bit like "Donnie Darko".

I liked Elf the first time.

The seventh? I don't have that level of patience for Ferrell.

The Core, for class (Christmas is a weird time). Two-Face tries to save the world with a big drill, because something something bullshit. It's really, really stupid.

Just saw The Hobbit.

Was greatly disappointed.

It was grand. It was epic. It was beautiful. It was well edited and made me feel as though I were there. But then there were the action sequences.... ugh....

When we see a sequence of events that are supposed to be dangerous for the characters on screen, but then cartoonish impossible solutions are found and there are no consequences AND someone leaps in at the end who was not involved in the sequence whatsoever and saves the day, all sense of danger disappears. It becomes a fucking cartoon. Nothing actually happens. So the viewer gets bored with the spectacle on screen and the director might as well have not put that sequence in the damned movie.

It's like Peter Jackson took lessons on film-making from George Lucas. The result was a boring movie that needn't have been made in the first place and an audience that walks away with blue balls and may not know why.

It was a movie that'd be good for children and mongoloids who can't think. It was a movie that'd be good on a rainy sunday afternoon when there is nothing else to do. It was a movie that, overall, disappoints and bores.

This is exactly my dads complaints with the movie. He said that the visuals were stunning, the story was great, and pretty much exactly what you said, but that the action sequences with the over-the-top, somehow-lives-when-it-would-be-impossible action scenes got on his nerves. The sad part is they are much more common in movies then they used to be, and seem to just be more and more common.

The weird part is they don't bother me as much in video games. Yeah, they do sometimes, but the Uncharted games are fantastic games, and they are totally over-the-top treasure hunting action movies. BUT I do like a more down-to-earth game sometimes, that isn't so over the top. Probably because in video games it's more noticeable that they did a fantastic job at MAKING the action scenes, while in movies it just dulls the story. I'm also all for visually stunning video games, but in a movie if the visuals are good and nothing else, it doesn't make the movie that amazing for me, except the visuals.
