The Judge, starring Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall.

Proving that you don't need CGI to make a riveting, beautiful movie. Robert Duvall is easily Marlon Brando's peer, and it makes you realize why he was cast alongside Brando in the Godfather films.

The director's cut of Nightbreed by Clive Barker. Such an amazing film, recommend it for any horror fan. I believe it's on Netflix.

I hate it when movies make things with forced happy endings...especially when the books don't have happy endings (The Golden Compass, for example)

The Production Code was still in effect at the time, so that might have had something to do with them changing the story.

Jupiter Ascending

The overarching concept could've been a really cool sci-fi movie. Extraterrestrial corporations that harvest planets like Earth once they reach "carrying capacity" in order to feed an intergalactic industry for the most precious commodity in the universe: time. One of these corporations, run by the ultra-powerful Abraxas dynasty, is responsible for starting life on Earth millions of years ago - our entire human civilization has just been a farm for them. Now they're ready to harvest Earth and convert our life force into more immortality potions for the galaxy's elite. Sounds cool, right?

But the shoehorned romance, forced The Princess Diaries parallels, lifeless acting and cringey dialogue ruined it. It was still enjoyable for me because I'm a sucker for sci-fi and the costumes and set-design were stunning, but this was not a good movie.

City of life and death. Great movie and one of my favorites. For those that don't know it, its about the Japanese occupation of Nanjing and what happened to its people. If you haven't seen it yet, go and watch it!
On a scale from 1-10 i give it an 8,5 (note that i never give a 10 for a movie since no movie is perfect).

Not sure the story had anything particularly explicit in it. Shame the production code didn't stop Mickey Rooney's cringe making performance.

Because if it was a 1-9 scale, then 9 would be the top and I'd never give something a 9 because "nothing is perfect"

It makes sense to me.

This^
A 10 would be given only when a movie would be perfect on all aspects, which no movie is and probably never will be.

Maybe then your scale should go up to 11, and then the best movies that will actually exist will get 10s. Like the mockumentary This is Spinal Tap. ;)

If I'd have posted hours earlier it'd have been Asterix & Obelix Take on Caesar but then Wasabi started, so it's the latter. They're both Francophone but dubbed in (Latin American) Spanish anyways.

So I guess TV-aired film choices went all French today. Both were funny enough for me, but, I'm fairly easy to impress if physical humor is involved.
