Stupidity in the writing. House, M.D. is a good example, even though I love the show (but only for House). When House isn't on screen I tend to fast-forward so as not to have to listen to the stupid things the other characters (especially Cameron and Thirteen) are saying. And, while, I'm at it, obvious and blatant scientific inaccuracy, which unfortunately is a hallmark of the show.

Laughtracks. And when the laughtrack goes off at times when it isn't funny...like a character just doing their "strange reaction to what you just said" face...especially after a comment that isn't even funny.

Shows with an obvious uber-conservative slant. What's wrong with environmentalism? You don't want future generations to know what the hell a tree is?

Shows with an obvious uber-liberal slant. No, more government isn't always better. No, Rome wasn't sacked by the Christians. If Christianity really did kill Rome, Rome would have fallen a few centuries sooner.

Obvious Author Avatars. What's an author avatar? It's when the creator of the show creates a character that is obviously said creator in fictional form. The character shares the same views as the creator and is often depicted as "always right". A good, irritating example is Family Guy's Brian. Man, that dog is a douche.

Scrappies. A show's character line-up should be well-balanced. A Scrappy is any character that ruins the balance, often as an ill-fated attempt to boost ratings.

"All men are perverted idiots". This isn't a trope. It's a cliche used when they want a stupid and/or perverted character, but don't want to come off as 'sexist'. While female idiots are usually blonde, male idiots have every hair color of the rainbow, especially green.

male/female-on-male rape is funny and/or completely justified. Some of you remember the episode of Family Guy when Peter is "tricked" into abstinence. When Lois wants sex, but Peter doesn't, what happens? Lois rapes him and it's depicted as the right thing to do.

Cliff-hangers. A character is dangling from a cliff! Will he make it? No, I don't care about tampons. I want to see if the character makes it. Another tampon commercial. Look, if the first commercial didn't make me give a damn about tampons, a second one won't either.

Cliff-hanger ending. Like the cliff-hanger, but you have to wait either a week or half a year just to see what happens. It's even worse when the next episode starts out like nothing happened. One new episode ends with the character hanging from a cliff with a nuke ready to go off in the city. The next new episode starts out with said character talking to his buddies in a bar.

And how. MTV used to show music-related stuff. It was literally Music TeleVision. What do they show now? Reality TV shows starring anthropomorphic toxic-waste spills. I think the film crew is required by law to wear hazmat suits whenever they are within a 20-mile radius of the set.

I agree with all of those. I would also like to add that i dislike reality tv shows and i dislike fuse tv.

Hmm... what annoys me...?

"But, Britney, why did you ask two guys on a date to the prom?"

"But I had to! John is soooo cute, but Jack is soooo sweet!"

Having EVERY CHARACTER getting into some kind of sex scandal with every other character. That pretty much says: "OK, we're done with any kind of real plot, so let's just have everyone get pissed off at each other when they bang their respective grandmothers."

Also, I have quit watching Law and Order after they had two consecutive episodes showing conservatives and libertarians as perpetually angry, simple-minded people who gather with guns every time their government blinks an eye.

Really bad cliffhanger series finales. It was okay in Avatar: the Last Airbender. Zuko's mother's fate is supposed to remain a mystery. The mystery was a big part of the plot, providing much of Zuko's motivation. It's not okay when the mystery is in desperate need of solving.

Sopranos-style ending. Who doesn't hate it when they end it mid-sen

Reality-TV. I like reality-tv shows that are supposed to teach you by showing real people solving real problems realistically. I hate reality-tv shows that are obviously either scripted or heavily-edited to artificially increase drama by butchering lines and purposely taking everything out of context. Bad reality-tv shows hire only the biggest douchebags and cater to the douchebag/idiot demographics.

Things that piss me off more than anything on TV is when they something good is about to happen then they say "Okay, we'll be right back after the Commercials. What's wordse is when this happening and they say "Find out next time on (show name)" especially when you can't watch the next episode for one reason or an other

I hate cliff-hangers too! I especially hate it when the comercials ruin the mood. You're watching a scary program when it's interrupted by an overly-happy commercial. It's even worse when the commercial is for "feminine" hygiene.

I hate it when police in TV shows ignore the forth amendment and believe whoever comes in with a "criminal" is automatically guilty of something. Want to find who did a crime? Lets ask the 5 hippie teenagers and the dog!

Another thing I hate is when the bad guy doesn't shoot the damn good guy! What satisfaction are you getting from watching them get eaten by snakes. I literally scream at my TV when that happens.

Recorded laughter, and gunfights where noboby gets hit and the heroes can run out from cover and of course the bad guys miss every shot. Also, I hate when every "good guy" who isn't a major character is an idiot. One terrible show for that was the last season of 24, where every cop and CTU agent who was a minor, unnamed character, was an incompetent idiot who would disobey orders and get themselves killed and jeopardize the success of the mission.

One of the most annoying things, and always a sure sign that the show has jumped the shark (usually because it went into syndication and the producers are therefore losing money with every show they make and want it to be canceled as soon as possible) is this: when you have a man and a woman who are constantly fighting, or else one has unrequited or undeclared love for the other, and a main point of the show is the constant bickering and sexual tension between them - they admit their love for each other. Examples are Moonlighting and Frasier (Niles & Daphne). And now my most favoritest show, House! It was more fun watching House and Cuddy fight than it will ever be watching them make out, or even f$#%! (Though Cuddy is pretty hot, I must admit.)

One of the many things I liked about The Wire was the absence of any pretty faces, male or female. Even the hero wasn't particularly handsome.
