What’s the worst racing game ever made?

For me? Probably Forza Motorsport 8 as my first serious answer. I don’t play it, but what I’ve heard it’s a dumpster fire that is worse than FM5 and has a lot of issues AND IT'S ONLINE-ONLY TOO. As for worst that I’ve actually played, probably the current state of Asphalt 8. What used to be the greatest racing game on mobile now has a severe case of microtransactionisis (inb4 ‘it’s a mobile game, you should’ve expected that’). What’s yours?

There was a Car & Driver game that was for the Playstation 1 I think that was multi-style racing where the controls were janky as shit and things would happen like getting popped at the start of a dune buggy race and stuck behind a spectator wall. Complete garbage.

Big Rigs was released in a pre-alpha state, and it lacks any type of collision detection, allowing players to drive through other vehicles and obstacles, while its physics system is so problematic that it allows players to drive up a vertical incline or accelerate to a maximum speed of 1.23×1037 mph (equivalent to 18 quintillion quintillion times the speed of light) while driving in reverse before a floating-point arithmetic overflow occurs, coming to an immediate halt once the accelerator is released, and the launch version lacks computer artificial intelligence, meaning computer-controlled vehicles do not move at all during the race, thus making the game impossible to lose. A patch was released in an attempt to solve the last problem, but it only enabled computer-controlled vehicles to race until they reached the finish line, where they simply stopped without crossing it.

Asphalt Legends is miles better, but still P2W as fuck. I do prefer being able to buy cars with IGC instead of having to get blueprints to unlock them though. *laughs in my s1861 centodieci on asphalt 8*

If I wanna revisit an old golden racing game, I’ll play Forza Motorsport 4.

In seriousness, the worst I’ve ever played is this small game that nobody has heard about called Extreme Car Driving Simulator. It is not even remotely extreme. Good for loopholes, but horrible for actual gameplay. It is technically under the definition of ‘racing game’ even though there is only one racing map in the entire game that was only added last year. In the multiplayer map you can ‘race’ with other people to some randomly picked destination, which was meant to be a ‘thrilling addition to the game’ but nobody really uses it. Somehow it has gotten extremely popular.*
