Does it have to be an actual novel? I love Banana Fish, but that's a manga.

She Gets the Girl by Alyson Derrick and Rachael Lippincott. If only for the references to obscure musicians I thought only I ever heard of.
Slight rant-
TERF is a slur. Biological sex is real, important, and immutable and women's rights will not be ignored.
Saving the environment is not about vapid "VSCO girl" aesthetics, or wanting to be an edgy rebel activist. It's about not dying slowly, horribly, and painfully along with everything else on this lonely outpost in space that serendipitously happened to spawn beautiful life.

OOC-
hello there
I like books, indie rock, plaid, typewriters, and the Scottish Highlands.
I sometimes :), occasionally >:/, and very rarely (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻.
