Tintin Discussion Thread

Postby Republic Of Ludwigsburg » Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:55 pm

Tintin is comic series created by author "Hérge", pen name of Georges Prosper Remi. It is a book about a reporter called Tintin, who finds himself in various adventures with his dog Snowy, a white Fox Terrier. The first book was "Tintin in the land of the Soviets" which was intended as a sort of propaganda commissioned by "Le Petit Vingtieme" which was a catholic and conservative newspaper. Then, starting from Tintin in America, Herge was going to create comics by himself with his friends who formed Studio Herge. They kept publishing books until Herge died, while writing Tintin and Alph-art, which was supposed to be a book about Tintin and Captain Haddock finding Alph-Art owned by a Jamaican collector.

Let the discussion begin.

Man, I love Tintin.
My favorites are definitely Cigars of the Pharaoh, The Blue Lotus, and Red Rackham's Treasure. I'll give RR's Treasure the top spot, I just like it for the reasons I like the rest of the series - fantastic adventures with incredible characters.

The comics are one of my favourites. I remember I used to read both Tintin and Asterix in the Sunday afternoons. Ah, those were the days...

I like Tintin. It was one of my mom's favorites, and she passed that love to me. My faves are The Blue Lotus, Tintin in Tibet, and anything with Syldavia in it.

Gosh I used to love Tintin as a kid. Haven’t read it in years! I think my favorite was probably Tibet but I remember most of them being highly enjoyable. I didn’t know the author was working on another comic when he died, I wonder if you can find the written parts anywhere :o

It's quite sad that Hergé passed away while he was working on Alph-Art. With him gone, so does Tintin. But I'm very sure he would still be proud of his creature even if he's not around anymore.

So far I've only read Objectif lune (Destination Moon) and have started On a marche sur la lune (Explorers on the Moon) though I really should finish it...I also bought some other books which I haven't started yet. They're all in French.
