Jane Eyre should never be given respect. Ever.

Unless, of course, "respect" is a foreign word that translates to "deadly napalm".

Quite honestly, Meyer was asking to get that damned book banned in my The Rich Port, the same as Nazis (LOL, they fell into that crowd). And that was a marvelous book. But you cannot tell me that Twilight has the same value and the same impact and the same beauty and power that 451 has. Trust me: there are some books that DESERVE to get burned, that MUST be burned in order for us to continue to develop as civilized peoples.

Even twilight doesn't deserve to be burned, flayed and it's pages scattered throughout the world perhaps, but we cannot wholly destroy it, we may need it later to appease aliens, or cause them to commit mass suicide, I don't know which it will be useful for. Depends on whether aliens have the minds of 14 year old girls

I didn't read much Kafka, but I can honestly say that the only feeling his books conjure in me is a strong dislike of the man himself and any professors who make me read his works.

I don't care how much junk fiction there is, every single books is written from the soul of the author, to burn their book is to burn their very heart. I can't sympathize, even Twilight deserves better then burning. There will always be gems, we cannot deem a book unreadable, it is the second most despicable form of social control there is.

You can dislike or even hate a book without wishing it off the face of the Earth. Unless you have literally never read a book you disliked, stop trying to be morally superior.

That being said, I did not like A Handmaid's Tale.

... Don't insult my ideologies. >:(

"Voice of the people"? My whole country voted to freakin' BAN that damned book. Stephanie Meyer is creating opiates, for Crissakes, literary narcotics. I doubt that a tear will be shed if that book were to have never been written. It is a fad, nothing more. And if 100 years from now I am told I am wrong, I will turn over several times in my grave. The moment that Meyer is held to the same esteems as Bradbury or Melville or Kesey or Orwell, I will NUKE that woman's house into ashes. COUNT ON IT.

I fully agree, but I sure as hell want to get rid of a few titles.

If I were Lord Emperor of Earth I'd outlaw Belva Plain's Looking Back. Not for any political or ideological reason (Like there were any in that book. It was about a woman banging her father-in-law.), but because it sucked hardcore and had an awful ending.

I write too, and all this crap fiction clogging up the works is infuriating.

Am I wrong to assume all this ban/burn Twilight business is hyperbole? Also, I was pretty damned disappointed with Kindred. If sounds awesome on paper; a sci-fi time traveling tale that reveals the sordid details of a black woman's family history while contrasting the social view of a mixed race relationship between multiple time periods. But alas, the characters seemed flat and so did the message. At least to me...

Any of those generic fantasy stories you can pick up anywhere. Plus Twilight.

I mean, if you're really that unoriginal that you have to name the sword that they're questing after "The Blue sword" you need a slap to the face.
