I guess my quip about hybrid wasn't completely wide of the mark.tl/dr the new car
could go hybrid or electric.
I don't mind electric race cars to be honest, fast is fast. But 30 cars whispering in a pack at a super speedway would seem...weird.

I would actually love to see NASCAR bring back the OEM bodies and engines so manufacturers would have to be bothered to build performance cars instead of the million 'hybrid' crossovers that are taking over the road
I hate silhouette racing and not fond of paved ovals, but to NASCAR's credit, it's really the only series out there that can be considered 'competitive'. Even when Jimmy Johnson was racking up championships any given race could have been won by any of at least ten drivers by the last lap. Compared to a similar run by Lewis Hamilton means that the race could be won by a Benz, a Red Bull...
maybe a Ferrari. But probably Lewis.
Finding parity and close finishes is a tricky proposition. Though IMSA GT seems to be doing a great job with very different cars all based on street machines.
