MF DOOM announced to have passed away

Postby Nuroblav » Thu Dec 31, 2020 2:49 pm

Well that was unexpected...

Legendary rapper MF Doom has died age 49, his family confirmed in a statement Thursday.

"The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for," wrote Doom's wife Jasmine. "Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be."

Just earlier this month, BADBADNOTGOOD released a collaboration with Doom entitled "The Chocolate Conquistadors." The statement continues, "My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet." The news was also shared by Rhymesayers, one of the many labels he worked with throughout his prolific career.

He died on Oct. 31, 2020, his family said. A cause of death was not revealed.

The influential rapper is responsible for some of the most beloved hip-hop albums of all-time, including Mm.. Food and Madvillainy with Madlib. While he hadn't released a solo album since 2009's Born Like This, he remained active in the decade that followed and released three seperate collaborative efforts.

Well RIP. Truly a great rapper as well - that kind of complex lyricism comes as a rarity, especially with someone like MF. Here's the first song I heard from him

(Wasn't sure whether to put this here or NSG but I think this would be a better place)

Holy shit, three months ago? I never really listened to the guy's music but even I've heard of him. RIP.

Use all caps when you spell the man's name, RIP.

Also no DOOM means no Madvillainy 2 which is just completely awful as well.

Also if you haven't heard his albums under the monikers King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn you need too, some of his best work imo.

I am thou, thou art I. Thou hast acquired a new vow. It shall become the wings of rebellion that breakth thy chains of captivity.

Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far?
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many died
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go

They killed him, just like they killed Nujabes. The Adult Swim stars had too much talent, they needed to be taken out. DOOM must have realized something wasn't right and he stopped giving tribute to them.

Anyway, my first and only favorite song from him is "Space Ho's". At least he won't be here to suffer from what's about to happen. Farewell to an era of good times, and farewell to my childhood.
