Game of Thrones: Which House Do You Support?

Postby Westerosiya » Sun Dec 06, 2020 11:25 am

With the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon materialising and being set for production next year, it's very likely GoT fans will see more of their favourite Houses of Westeros.

The debate about which of the great Houses of Westeros is most favoured by fans has been raging ever since George R.R Martin wrote and published the first novel back in 1996. Lets put it to the test and see which of the 9 major Houses NS players seem to favour the most.

(If you're not familiar with Game of Thrones, you can vote anyway based on which one you like from the list below. Feel free to give reasons on why you think your choice is the best!)

Image
House Stark
Motto: Winter is Coming
Seat: Winterfell, Kingdom in the North

Description: House Stark’s noble seat is Winterfell in the North.
Regarded as Wardens of the North, they’re an honourable, just, and overall
benevolent house. They believe justice must be as swift as the blade of a sword.

Image
House Targaryen
Motto: Fire and Blood
Seat: Dragonstone, The Crownlands

Description: Dragon Riders, really, that's what you need to know.
Probably the most ancient of the Houses of Westeros. They have the ability to
control dragons at will, riding them into battle as they scorch small villages and
kingdoms alike. Not to mention, most House Targaryen kin can survive walking
through fire. They’ll emerge from the flames unscathed.

Image
House Lannister
Motto: Hear Me Roar!
Seat: Casterly Rock, Westerlands

Description: House Lannister’s seat is in Casterly Rock, situated in
the Westerlands. They’re actually considered the wealthiest house in Westeros
with House Tyrell not far behind. This house will do whatever it takes to gain
total supremacy over Westeros.

Image
House Greyjoy
Motto: What Is Dead May Never Die
Seat: Pyke, The Iron Islands

Description: Nicknamed the Ironborn, they’re not preoccupied or distracted by the malarkey taking
place in the other six kingdoms. They’re not obsessed with laying claim to the Iron
Throne. The Ironborn are considered to be barbaric and relentless. Cunning. Brash.
Essentially, you wouldn’t want to encounter an Ironborn in a dark alley.

Image
House Baratheon
Motto: Ours is the Fury!
Seat: Storm's End, The Stormlands

Description: Notable for ending the rule of the Mad King Aerys II of House Targaryen.
House Baratheon used to be part of House Targaryen before they eventually broke off and claimed
the Stormlands as their kingdom. They’ve got plenty of coin in their purse and significant connections
to the other major players in Game of Thrones.

Image
House Martell
Motto: Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
Seat: Sunspear, Dorne

Description: House Martell is situated within Dorne. Dorne is still part of Westeros, despite
it being the southernmost region in the realm. House Martell lives in desolate, desert-like terrain.
Most Westerosi houses wouldn’t fare well duking it out against House Martell in Dorne.

Image
House Arryn
Motto: As High as Honor
Seat: Eyrie, The Vale

Description: House Arryn resides in the Eyrie nestled within the Vale. The Eyrie is the most
fortified out of all the major house seats in Westeros. It’s erected on top of an immensely steep
mountain range. House Arryn being so protected, they seldom participate in the affairs of Westeros
except to arrange marriages with suitable counterparts.

Image
House Tully
Motto: Family, Duty, Honor
Seat: Riverrun, The Riverlands

Description: The Tully seat Riverrun is nestled within the Riverlands and in quite a precarious
position. It’s a “sitting duck” for encroaching enemies. Riverrun isn’t very fortified nor is there much
by way of natural properties protecting it. House Tully may be the ruling house in the Riverlands, but
they’re not nearly as wealthy as other major houses in Westeros

Hereditary nobility is bad and the Westerosi nobility should feel bad.

This belongs in arts and fiction, you also already have a game of thrones thread there. And there is a game of thrones megathread that i created a few years back that you can post into and get a discussion going again instead of making a bunch of separate threads.

I was really hoping for proletarian revolution over selfish nobles throughout it, so I never really supported any house.

Daenarys was probably the closest we got for that happening, I mean technically she did free the Unsullied Army and liberate the Slave cities by killing the slave masters

A federation would be more proper
And Westerns in my opinion should incorporate the wildlings into the mountain clans and then solidify control on the steptstones

I feel the later was due to shitty storytelling and the writers deciding to rush everything

for sure, i mean we'll only get the truth once George R.R. Martin releases the latest book but Dan and Dave (dumb and dumber) rushed the entire 7th and 8th season just so they could move on to bigger projects, they didnt even want to hand over the show to other writers.

Stark and Targaryen supporters are pretty bland
House Baratheon seems to have the most personally out of all the houses

I would say Stark and Targaryen are pretty basic, I did actually support Baratheon before Stannis became a simp and roasted Shireen alive lol

I like how the hound knew Rh'llor existed but didn't care or worship the lord of light, Rh'llor is a piece of sh!t after all, a roasted kid is more than enough but he didn't deliver
