Those last two would be my personal favourites, alongside Dracula.

Right now I'll say
A Little Princess, though I'm a fan of Frances Hodgson Burnett generally.

Nice touch with coloring
house. I haven't read the book, though I'm familiar and have heard good (though horrifying) things.

Dispatches by Michael Herr is one of the best books I've ever read.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispatches_(book)
It is based on the author's experiences as a journalist in the Vietnam War. He also worked on the screenplays for
Apocalypse Now and
Full Metal Jacket.

I enjoyed Stephen King's "The Stand" a lot. Really thick one, depending on your native language it can go up to over 1700 pages, but I personally found it awesome. It's also one of his more "creative" works (I'm lacking a better expression here); the reason why I'm not the biggest King fan is his extremely clichéd and oftentimes unnecessarily absurd representation of the supernatural, focusing on being controversial rather than atmospheric.

The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter - Carson McCullers
The Trial - Franz Kafka
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
Invisible Man - Ralph Ellison
No Country for Old Men - Cormac McCarthy
Breakfast of Champions - Kurt Vonnegut
A Murder Is Announced - Agatha Christie

I love
House of Leaves too! Definitely the most unique book I've ever read, and also the only that's kept me up at night...

I will give a vote for Dracula as well (although it was long ago and my perspective might have changed).
And - while we are there - Carmilla, too

I'm currently reading
Dracula. It's pretty good. A little hard to get used to the POV changes but otherwise I've liked it.
