On the abbreviated seasons versus traditional seasons I don't think there's one answer.

Just as a traditional season can drag and end up with filler, an abbreviated season can be rushed and incomplete ignoring the strength of serialized storytelling to spend more time with character or story in favor of sustaining the spectacle of film over six to ten hours instead of two.

There's room for both.

I would watch Battle Car Stalactica.

I watched some bonkers Japanese game show (but I repeat myself) that I believe had 'battle car' in the name.

Controversial opinion, maybe, but quantity is quality. The more stories you make, the more likely you're going to strike gold. Even if you're only finding silver or bronze on a regular basis.

Hard disagree. I like shows being good or bad with nothing in between, makes it easier to enjoy the former and ignore the latter.

But good shows are few and far between these days. And this all or nothing approach can really hit shows as they progress, as even great shows can turn to shit.

Looking at you Game of Thrones.

Another ok episode.

I'm getting tired of them trying to tug on the heartstrings for people we hardly know. By the time "Wade" died I didn't even remember his face. The guy and the girl were part of this "Path" but why? Why does it feel like every new character is just shoved into the plot with one line of exposition? Its immensely frustrating.

On the positive side - I LOVE the idea of Jedi bodies being preserved by the Empire, presumably for experiments though trophy hunting would be just as good. The Tera Sinube callback was a nice TCW nod, though I didn't recognize many of the others. Looks like an Ongree Jedi (Pablo Jill or Coleman Kcaj most likely) was in there.

Third Sister was slightly better this episode - not sure why, but I found her acting to be a touch more convincing throughout her scenes on this go round.

All in all, not bad. Again.

But I cannot help feeling that this series would have been 10x more satisfying, if not as a slow burn, but as a lore drawn out affair. Cramming the kind of stuff they are aiming for into 6 episodes that hardly break 50 minutes is a tall order and we are seeing that in thr quality of the new characters that have been introduced.

Agreed on all accounts, this episode was okay and i do think the show should have been longer as the pacing is very rapid and i dont think the six episode length is gona help

Also i know they are short on time trying to escape and all and im sure the Fortress probably doesnt have imperial clothes for kids lying around but that whole "hide under the coat leia as i walk through like 100 officers and troopers" moment towards the end was soo stupid lol. Should have been spotted instantly.

I did quite like the hall of dead jedi all encased in space amber or what ever the heck that was, very eerie but cool as heck. Gives the Inquisitors a trophy hunter vibe now.

And the Fortress Inquisiting people place really needs to beef up its underwater security, thats twice now a jedi has got in via the ocean.

Meh. I don’t think that move could even save the series. Ewan has been good as Obi-won with PTSD. Other then that?…..I am just not getting in to it like I wanted.

Third Sister? I really don’t like that actress. When she first appeared; my first thoughts were does this gal even know Star Wars? Her character? Did she even prepare?

The inquisitors? They were bad asses in the game and even in Rebels. These guys?….

Bad edits. Like the gap on the side of the fence.

Leia? Why did third sister think she would know the smuggle ring? The fact Leia is strong against a force probe; wouldn’t that have suggested she has force abilities?

Not sure there is going to be anything exciting in the next two…..

I will admit his presence is good.

One that made me go awww! Was seeing Tera Sinube.

For those who went “who?” He was an elder Jedi Master who helped Ashoka get back her Light Saber in the Clone Wars.

^ This is essentially my take.

What this story should have been, at its core, is how Obi Wan went from (over) confident Jedi Master, to broken hermit, to wise teacher.

It should have had Vader as the primary antagonist - its what the fans wanted AND made the most sense for the characters.

Instead, they have spent time dithering around on new characters that they have utterly failed to flesh out - Third Sister being the most egregious example, but the Path non-soldier soldiers being another one. Even Tala is only saved from being written off by the excellence that is Indira Varma.

Its a shame really. They have somehow found a way to bloat and overcomplicate what should be a fairly straightforward story, all while only giving us 6 episodes.

They are lucky so much of this criticism is forgiven by the mere presence of Ewan McGregor on my screen...

Let's hope this is compounded by more Hayden Christiansen over the next two episodes.

the thing about the gate is if they had just run around it nobody would have said anything. It's clearly there to prevent vehicles from making it through the pass, not necessarily people on foot.

The one thing I forgot to mention was the probable introduction for plot holes.

Leia’s wacky adventure with Obi-Wan goes against New Hope as the Leia message suggested they had not met.

The fight with Vader is the same with New Hope. Comments about Obi-Wan and the interaction suggested they hadn’t seen each other since the fall of the old republic.
