More like the Empire lost it after Lothal. Imagine how things would've gone if Death Squadron had had Interdictors at Hoth.

They had it at Hoth and Emdor they just didn't mention it on the film.

It's like if I got pulled over by a policeman and said, "How did they track me through 80 mph?" (Or, for our metric friends, "How did they track me through 130 kph?"). It just doesn't make sense and it makes me sad that no one stopped it.

Someone should've told Admiral Ozzel that. "The fleet has moved out of lightspeed" and all that.

You say that as if that's some big "Gotcha!" or something. As if I'm supposed to defend the OT no matter what, like some mindless drone, just because it's objectively better than the ST. Or maybe just as if you get your kicks by being needlessly contrarian. Regardless, it's nonsensical there, just as it is anywhere else. Though I will say that at least that statement is closer to making a modicum of sense than the ST nonsense. Perhaps that poor technical phrasing is what Vader meant when he said Ozzel had failed him for the last time.

Also, skip Hot Space. That album is terribad.

Sorry for the long wait. Got my COVID shot on Friday and it left my arm feeling sore so I couldn't write much until it subsided.

Final part of the Sequel re-writes is coming to an end. Prepare yourself! I look forward to hearing feedback.

...And it's done. Voilà!

LV Rewrites the Star Wars Sequels

Decades after the toppling of the Galactic Empire by the Rebel Alliance at the decisive Battle of Endor--which resulted in the death of the Emperor Palpatine, the destruction of the Death Star II superweapon, and the annihilation of most of the Imperial Navy--the newly-restored Galactic Republic contests with the Imperial remnants who have reformed into a small but deadly terrorist organization known as the New Order. Despite having long been at war with the New Order the restored Republic's growth and expansion has led it to re-classify the post-Imperial terror group as a minor threat to the objections of the former leaders of the Rebel Alliance, many of which have since retired from both fighting and politics. One of the last to recognize the New Order as a serious threat, Admiral Leia Organa-Solo of the Republic Navy, has begun launching unsanctioned covert operations using specialized elite forces to combat the New Order and protect the Republic.

Among these special forces are the elite Rapier Squadron, commanded by ace pilot Poe Dameron, which has been tasked with discovering the whereabouts of the missing Lor San Tekka, a librarian in the newly-reformed Jedi Order. Tracking the missing Jedi to the world of Jakku, Poe discovers Lor's camp with Lor and several mercenaries. Lor explains that he voluntarily went into hiding in order to keep a powerful Sith holocron hidden from the New Order as he reveals to Poe that the Jedi have discovered the mysterious and unknown leader behind the New Order is a Force sensitive and an agent of the Dark Side, possibly even a Sith Lord. However, before he can share more information Lor's camp is attacked by forces of the New Order being led by the cruel and merciless Field Marshal Phasma. Rapier Squadron is caught off guard and destroyed by an overwhelming number of New Order TIE fighters as Lor's hired mercenaries are quickly outmatched by the superior firepower of the New Order stormtroopers. Poe escapes detection but Lor is captured after slaying several stormtroopers and is promptly executed by Phasma. Poe is then spotted by a New Order stormtrooper, who is then quickly killed by the Republic pilot. Poe's droid companion BB-8 is able to escape into the desert due to it's speed and small size, but Poe himself is cornered by the stormtrooper's squadmates before he can escape. Despite wanting to avenge their fallen comrade, Phasma orders the troopers to stand down and they comply. Poe is instead restrained, sedated, and taken captive by the New Order while Phasma discovers and loots the Sith holocron in order to bring it back to her superiors.

Poe is taken to a secret New Order base hidden on one of Jakku's moons where he is tortured for information while Phasma hands over the Sith holocron to Kylo Ren, the leader of the Knights of Ren; a secret order of Force users that serve the New Order. Kylo departs with the holocron while Phasma continues to interrogate Poe. During his captivity Poe is secretly confronted by a stormtrooper that expresses anger with him over Poe killing his friend and squadmate on Jakku. Poe espouses his belief in the ideals of the Republic and shows no regret for his actions. The stormtrooper berates Poe and questions his beliefs and the two argue over matters of ideology and morality. The stormtrooper reveals how the New Order recruits it's foot soldiers by kidnapping children and raising them as obedient killing machines. Poe is horrified, and revises his initial perception of the events on Jakku by explaining his only regret is knowing the man he killed never had a choice to begin with. The stormtrooper is surprised by this and debates with Poe about the nature of choice and how it factors into anything, with Poe explaining that the ability to choose is what separates a free being from a slave, and remarks that a slave is given no value save for as a tool to be used before being thrown away; he then equates the New Order stormtroopers with slaves and notes how even the Galactic Empire's soldiers had more choice than they do. He also recounts the Clone Troopers of the Old Republic, how they were virtually slaves, and the fate they were inevitably met with in spite of their loyalty. The stormtrooper is angered by this but is interrupted by Phasma before he can respond. Phasma identifies the stormtrooper as FN-2187 and orders him to explain himself. FN-2187 explains he was interrogating the prisoner, to which Phasma notes he was not authorized to do so. Phasma chastises FN-2187 and orders him confined to his quarters for defying regulations before continuing with her interrogation of Poe.

FN-2187 spends his time in confinement thinking about his argument with Poe. Though still unconvinced by Poe's arguments FN-2187 nonetheless begins to question his role in the New Order and as a stormtrooper. FN-2187 comes to realize that Poe is right and that the stormtroopers of the New Order are meant to be expendable after discussing the fate of his friend--FN-2003 "Slip"--who Poe had killed on Jakku with Field Marshal Phasma, who regards Slip as weak and remarked that his death only made the New Order stronger. Disillusioned with the New Order and wanting to be able to choose his own future, FN-2187 makes the decision to desert from the New Order but realizes he can't do so on his own. At the end of his confinement FN-2187 secretly meets with Poe again, who is on the verge of death from the intense torture he has since endured. FN-2187 offers to help him escape if Poe takes him away from the New Order. Poe is skeptical and questions the stormtrooper on his motives. FN-2187 angrily tells Poe that he is not expendable and neither was Slip. Poe is surprised but is still skeptical. However, he agrees to help FN-2187 desert. FN-2187 injects Poe with a painkiller stimulant before releasing him. He then offers Poe a weapon, much to the pilot's surprise. Poe reluctantly accepts the weapon and FN-2187 asks how good of a pilot he is, with Poe confidently proclaiming that he can fly anything. FN-2187 leads him to the hangar only for the alarm to be raised as Poe's escape is discovered. Before they can board a TIE fighter, however, the duo are confronted by FN-2187's remaining squadmates--FN-2199 "Nines" and FN-2000 "Zeroes"--who are bewildered by his betrayal. FN-2187 argues with the two and Nines prepares to shoot him before Zeroes talks him down. Zeroes attempts to negotiate with FN-2187 and encourage him to stay and make up a lie about capturing Poe as he escaped but FN-2187 refuses and instead appeals to his comrades' friendship. Zeroes reluctantly agrees to let FN-2187 leave but Nines warns FN-2187 the next time they meet Nines will kill him before storming off.

FN-2187 begrudgingly shoots Zeroes and injures him in order to stage the scene and make it look like Zeroes tried to stop him. FN-2187 apologizes to Zeroes before knocking him unconscious. FN-2187 and Poe then flee in a TIE fighter. Poe expresses unfamiliarity with the model of TIE and struggles to learn the controls while evading pursuing New Order TIEs. Poe is able to destroy the initial pursuit fighters but their TIE is damaged in the fight and they are forced to crash land on Jakku. Poe and FN-2187 evade the pursuing TIEs while hiding in the wreckage from the Battle of Jakku between the Empire and the Rebellion. There they discover Rey, a scrap salvager and orphan who discovered Poe's droid BB-8 in the desert and kept it as her companion. Rey takes pity on the duo and agrees to guide them to safety by navigating the wreckage to escape the New Order, which has now begun deploying troops to scour the starship wreckage. Rey leads the two out of the scrapyard and into a trading post but the group is discovered by New Order TIEs while en route who give chase. The group are forced to hijack a freighter to make their escape, much to the chagrin of the ship's owners--the infamous smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee friend and co-pilot Chewbacca--who initially refuse to let them stay on board but are forced to take the group with them when New Order TIEs begin firing on their ship, the famous Millennium Falcon.

Solo pilots the Falcon while Poe and FN-2187 man the turrets and Rey helps Chewbacca with repairs. Together the group is able to evade the New Order and jump to hyperspace, escaping to the planet Takodana hoping to lay low and use the established underworld elements on the planet to hide from the New Order. FN-2187 tells Poe he intends to stay on Takodana and go his own way. Poe thanks him for helping him escape and tells him he'll need a "real" name now, to which FN-2187 chooses "Finn" to Poe's approval. Solo compliments Rey's technical skills, remarking how Chewbacca was impressed with her abilities while working on the Falcon and then introduces her to Maz Kanata; the Force-sensitive crime lord that runs the local cantina. Maz tells Rey she can sense Rey's Force sensitivity, to which Rey is intrigued and asks Maz to explain the Force to her. Solo talks with Poe and realizes he's with the Republic while Poe realizes Solo is Leia's ex-husband. Finn begins talking with some pirates looking to join up with their crew but before he can finalize a deal a patron of the cantina alerts the establishment to the arrival of New Order star destroyers in the system. The various patrons of the cantina attempt to flee to their starships but TIE fighters set upon the locale and begin firing on the lowlifes while transports deploy stormtroopers. The group rallies the pirates, smugglers, and gangsters to form an impromptu militia to repel the New Order while Solo attempts to contact Leia using Maz's long-range holotransmitter.

Finn is incapacitated by an explosion and loses his blaster before then encountering Nines, who calls Finn a traitor. Nines discards his blaster rifle and brandishes an electric baton before charging Finn, who picks up a vibroblade from a fallen pirate and fights Nines with it. Finn initially beats and disarms Nines but can't bring himself to kill his former friend. Nines uses the opportunity to gain the upper hand, putting Finn in a choke hold before being killed by Poe. Poe helps Finn up and Finn mourns the loss of his friend, but thanks Poe for saving him all the same. The overwhelming force of the New Order is able to overpower the pirates and Rey, lacking combat experience, is nearly killed by stormtroopers but is spared at the last moment by Kylo Ren--who has arrived with Field Marshal Phasma--who sensed her strong connection to the Force. Having captured the rest of the pirates and the other heroes save for BB-8, who again evaded detection due to it's speed and small size, Kylo orders them all executed and Rey to be taken to his ship. As Rey is taken off planet Phasma tells Finn she is disappointed in him as she once thought he was a model soldier but expresses joy in the prospect of killing him. Before she is able to personally execute him, however, BB-8 is able to cause a distraction by slicing into a pirate freighter and ramming it into a New order shuttle, startling the stormtroopers and Phasma. The pirates and heroes charge their captors in an attempt to overpower them. As Finn and Phasma wrestle Phasma begins to gain the upper hand until fighters from the Republic arrives, shooting the TIEs out of the sky and making way for ground transports to deploy Republic soldiers. Chewbacca knocks Phasma unconscious and the group make it to the Millennium Falcon and escape the planet to rendezvous with Leia and the Republic fleet. Kylo orders Admiral Armitage Hux--the commander of the New Order fleet--to retreat as the Republic fleet has them outnumbered and out-gunned while Phasma is detained by the Republic.

Leia and Han re-unite for the first time in years, Poe is welcomed back by his colleagues, and Finn is detained following the reveal that he is a ex-stormtrooper. Leia initially believes he is a spy but Poe publicly defends him, claiming Finn is a good man much to surprise of many including Finn himself. Han and Chewbacca also vouch for him, but Leia is not convinced. Finn offers information to prove he isn't a spy and Leia reluctantly agrees to hear it. Finn tells them about Starkiller Base, a massive foundry where the New Order is building a third Death Star after having recovered the plans for the original. Leia, furious, refuses to believe him saying the only way they could have obtained that information was from top secret Republic databanks and that the New Order lacks the resources necessary to build a Death Star. Finn reveals there are elements in the Republic that are sympathetic to the New Order and that the Order receives a great deal of funding from private donors with Republic Senatorial ties. The Republic forces initially refuse to believe him and call him a liar, with even Poe being skeptical. Finn asserts the truth and offers to show the Republic where Starkiller Base is located. Leia begrudgingly agrees to take her fleet to the area to investigate the story but orders Finn to be detained all the same. Han reveals to Leia the existence of Rey and the presence of Kylo Ren on Takodana. Leia wonders why Kylo bothered to spare the girl and Han notes the girl is Force sensitive. Poe chimes in and reveals that Lor told him the hidden leader behind the New Order is also Force sensitive. Leia postulates the shadow leader is likely Kylo's master.

Leia's fleet travels to the star system Finn pointed out and discovers a New Order fleet larger than any previously encountered, much to their surprise, centered around a seemingly barren ice world. Forced to go on the defensive the Republic fleet is trapped by the enemy and Leia is forced to turn to Finn for guidance. Finn explains that the ice world is in fact an artificial shell built to mask the existence of the foundry housing and constructing the next Death Star and that the "planet" is actually hollow on the inside. Leia asks how they can destroy it to which Finn states that the facility's power core can be sabotaged to overload and destroy the entire "planet" and the Death Star with it but it would have to be done from within. Leia organizes a task force to infiltrate Starkiller Base via the Millennium Falcon with Han and Chewy leading the mission. Finn does not believe they will succeed, but is impressed by the Republic soldiers and their valor and offers to aid them to which Leia reluctantly agrees as Finn has been in the facility before and knows it's layout. Poe organizes the fighter pilots and prepares to escort the Falcon while providing cover for the Republic fleet.

In spite of intense resistance the Falcon is able to break through the blockade with help from Poe and the Republic fleet, reaching the surface of Starkiller base and infiltrating the facility. Finn gets the Republic soldiers access throughout the facility and guides them to the power core where demolition teams plant explosives. Meanwhile, Kylo has been interrogating Rey about her Force sensitivity, her power, and offering her a place in the Knights of Ren. Rey refuses, and Kylo tells her she will be broken. Kylo watches the intruding Republic forces on the holomonitor and notices Han Solo among them. Enraged, Kylo departs to confront him. As the charges are planted Finn finds and frees Rey, repaying her for helping him get off Jakku, and the two make their way to the Falcon as the rest of the demolition team escapes. Han begins to evacuate as well but comes across Kylo, who taunts him. Kylo speaks to Han as if he knows him, leaving Han to ask him who he is. Kylo removes his mask and reveals he is Ben Solo, Han and Leia's son who was presumed dead following a failed New Order attack on the Jedi Temple on Tython. Kylo reveals that he was captured by the Knights of Ren and rose to become their leader, eventually coming to serve the Supreme Leader of the New Order himself. Han is shocked and appalled at what his son as become and urges him to turn away from the Dark Side. Kylo refuses and murders his father as Chewbacca watches on in horror. The angry Wookiee shoots Kylo, who is enraged by the attack and pursues Chewbacca. Chewbacca escapes to the Falcon with Kylo in pursuit. The Republic soldiers attempt to hold Kylo off but are no match for him and are quickly slaughtered. Chewbacca is knocked unconscious and Rey he is overpowered. Finn tackles Kylo and steals a lightsaber from his belt, unaware of the weapon's significance. Kylo, further enraged, recognizes Finn as a traitor and threatens him as he draws his own lightsaber. Finn and Kylo duel and for a while Finn seems to be able to hold his own but he is soon overpowered. Before he can be killed, however, Rey picks up Chewbacca's bowcaster and hits Kylo with it, disorienting him. An injured Finn and Rey escape with the help of an awakened Chewbacca as the Knights of Ren appear to assist their leader.

The Falcon escapes, the explosives are detonated, and Starkiller Base is forced to evacuate. Kylo and the Knights of Ren barely escape as most of the New Order's fleet is decimated. Admiral Hux picks up the survivors before fleeing the system as the Republic celebrates victory. Chewbacca reports Han's death to Leia, revealing that Kylo Ren is Ben Solo; much to her shock and horror. To Finn's surprise Poe and many of the other Republic soldiers welcome his return and recognize his heroism. Rey, traumatized by the events but wanting to learn more about the Force and the power she has, is approached by Leia who tells her that if she wants to learn the ways of the Force her best bet is to go to the Jedi Order based on Tython. Leia reveals her twin brother, Luke Skywalker, is Grandmaster of the Jedi Order and can train her. Rey agrees and thanks Leia. Finn, having overheard the conversation, offers Rey the lightsaber he took from Kylo. Leia recognizes it but says nothing. Chewbacca offers to take Rey to Tython while Leia, now truly believing in Finn, offers him a position in the Republic military. Finn says he'll stick around for now, but he says the Republic has quite proven that it's worth fighting for to him yet. Leia assures him it will in time.

Having recovered intel of Starkiller Base, it's purpose, and it's capabiltiies from the destroyed New Order ships and the remains of the Death Star III and the foundry constructing it and sent them along to Republic High Command, the Galactic Senate, and the office of the Supreme Chancellor the Galactic Republic agrees that the New Order is a far greater threat than they initially believed and vows to devote greater attention, effort, and resources to combating it in order to safeguard the democracy that the Rebellion had fought so hard to restore. Leia wonders if the Senators who refused to support the move are in the pocket of the New Order. Finn tells her they're smarter than that, and that she shouldn't trust anyone in the Senate.

Leia's fleet has been ambushed by a New Order fleet of greater size than ever have been encountered before and Republic forces are unable to escape the Republic base at D'Qar due to the enemy command ship using a gravity well projector to prevent them from fleeing into hyperspace, thus trapping them in the system. In response Poe, leading the newly reconstituted Rapier Squadron, launches a desperate attack to cripple the ship so the fleet can escape. Despite suffering extensive casualties Rapier Squadron completes it's objective and the fleet is able to escape but nor before an attack on Leia's flagship destroys the bridge, venting it out into space and killing everyone aboard including Leia. The Republic forces are demoralized by the incident and in the wake of the disaster Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo is forced to take over as the new Admiral. Holdo reports the situation to Republic High Command while Finn is tasked with interrogating the captured Field Marshal Phasma but she refuses to cooperate. Finn encounters Rose Tico, a Republic Army combat engineer, who is initially unimpressed by him and still doesn't trust his motives for defecting. Finn attempts to convince her that he's on their side but Rose is still skeptical.

Meanwhile, Rey has traveled to Tython to train as a Jedi. Chewbacca introduces her to the Jedi Grandmaster Luke Skywalker, who greets his old friend warmly but is distressed to hear that his companion Han Solo was killed by Kylo Ren. Rey explains she is Force sensitive and wants to learn how to use her power, telling Luke that his sister Leia sent her. Luke is surprised to hear this to Rey's confusion. Luke explains that the New Order attacked Tython while the reconstituted Jedi Order was still young and that Leia and Han's son, Ben, was killed during the attack. Leia blamed Luke for his death as Luke had insisted on training Ben in the ways of the Jedi after discovering his nephew's Force sensitivity, to which Leia only agreed after Han encouraged the idea and that the death of their son also contributed to Leia and Han separating. Chewbacca reveals that Ben isn't dead but is in fact Kylo Ren and is serving the New Order, much to Luke's horror. Luke laments that by killing his own father in cold blood Ben has fallen too far to the Dark Side and cannot be redeemed. C-3PO and R2-D2, who are present, remind Luke that his own father committed far worse crimes and was still able to be redeemed. Rey is surprised to learn that the infamous Darth Vader--who even she has heard of--was Luke and Leia's father. Luke, however, has become jaded in his old age and dismisses this. He states that even Vader couldn't bring himself to kill his own son. Rey ponders if Kylo can still be saved, but Luke is dismissive of the idea and insists it's too late for that. He then notices the lightsaber that Rey is carrying and identifies it as Anakin's and asks her where she got it. Rey states that Kylo Ren had it on him and Luke holds it for the first time in decades, silently pondering. Rey insists if Darth Vader could be saved then it's not too late for Kylo. Luke is skeptical, but agrees to train her in the ways of the Jedi.

Holdo's fleet is then ambushed by the New Order again and she quickly realizes that there is a traitor giving away their position. She personally attempts to interrogate Phasma, who still refuses to cooperate. Out of options and not sure of who to trust she turns to Finn, who is surprised by this. Holdo tells Finn that she knows he isn't the traitor as he would be too obvious and that he's been under secret surveillance--under Leia's orders--since he came aboard. Finn is angry to learn that even after all he's done he still isn't trusted by the Republic. Holdo offers him a chance to prove where his loyalty's lie. She reveals that as he isn't technically a member of the Republic he has more freedom to operate than regular soldiers and that this flexibility can be useful in sniffing out who the traitor is. She suggests recruiting allies he can rely on to help him with this task. Finn volunteers Poe and Rose. Holdo trusts Poe and agrees, but asks why Finn chose Rose. Finn explains that she's one of the few people in the Republic that he's knows for a fact still doesn't trust him and that this excludes her from being a traitor and he wants the opportunity to prove to her and others that he isn't a spy. Holdo approves and orders Finn to begin hunting the traitor immediately as the Republic fleet continues trying to evade the New Order. Holdo reports her situation to Republic High Command.

As Luke begins training Rey in the ways of the Jedi R2-D2 and C-3PO arrive and inform Luke of Leia's death, much to Luke's grief and Rey and Chewbacca's shock. Luke reveals he felt a disturbance in the Force not long after Rey had arrived but wasn't sure what it meant until now, realizing he felt his sister's death. Luke continues training Rey, citing that the new Order must be stopped and the Republic preserved. He refuses to let Leia's and Han's deaths be in vain. Luke tells Rey that he heard about the death of Lor San Tekka and theft of the Sith holocron he was guarding, stating that he suspects the Supreme Leader of the New Order is likely a Sith Lord and is probably the one who corrupted Ben Solo and turned him to the Dark Side. He explains the power of the Dark Side, the allure of it's pull, and how it can corrupt even good and decent people and turn them to evil. Rey asks how to resist the Dark Side to which Luke tells her she must let go of her fear. Rey claims she isn't afraid. Luke states she will be.

Finn, Poe, and a reluctant Rose begin monitoring the crew aboard the Republic ships for signs of treason but fail to come up with anything even after monitoring comm traffic. The Republic fleet is ambushed again and once more forced to flee into hyperspace. Holdo calls the three to bridge and privately tells them she doesn't believe the traitor is on the fleet. She explains that every time she reports their position to Republic High Command they are ambushed by forces of the New Order, and that these are the only out-going communications within the fleet. She believes the traitor is in Republic High Command but also reveals that the fleet is running out of fuel and can't make it back to Republic space. Unable to send a distress signal to the Republic that won't be passed along to the enemy, sitting and waiting for the Republic to come to aid them also isn't an option. She informs the trio of a retired Rebellion leader residing on the planet Cantonica that can potentially help them. She orders Poe to stay behind so the fleet will still have it's best pilot in case they're entrapped again, much to his protestation. Rose is skeptical about being sent alone on a covert mission with Finn, who she still doesn't trust, but complies with Holdo's orders. Holdo informs Rose and Finn to rendezvous at the planet Crait when they're finished. Rose and Finn then depart for the city of Canto Bight on the nearby world of Cantonica while Poe is sent to interrogate Phasma. Poe enjoys the irony.

Rey continues to make progress in her Jedi training but is suddenly abducted in the middle of the night by the Knights of Ren, who have arrived on Tython in order to bring her to the Supreme Leader of the New Order. Kylo appears and informs Rey that the raw power she possesses can be useful to the New Order if she is properly trained. Kylo again offers to train her in the ways of the Dark Side, but Rey refuses and insists she isn't afraid. Kylo laughs and tells her she's lying. They are then interrupted by Luke and several other Jedi, who sensed Kylo's presence the moment he landed. The Knights of Ren prepare to attack Luke but Kylo orders them to focus on the other Jedi and to leave Luke to him. Luke chastises Kylo for his arrogance and calls him "Ben", to Kylo's amusement. Rey and the Jedi fight the Knights of Ren but are slowly being overwhelmed as the Knights prove to be vicious and highly skilled, being more than a match for the Jedi and Rey. Luke, meanwhile, barely struggles in the fight against Kylo much to Kylo's frustration. Luke speaks to Kylo condescendingly, as if he was still a child a padawan, prodding Kylo into a rage. Luke bests and injures Kylo effortlessly and Kylo is furious that he isn't strong enough to defeat Luke. Luke tells him to surrender but Kylo orders the Knights of Ren to attack Luke. Despite being outnumbered Luke defeats his younger opponents easily, cutting down several and startling the others who fear Luke's superior ability and power. Kylo orders a retreat as more Jedi and Chewbacca begin to arrive to help, kidnapping Rey and warning them that if they try to follow him that they'll kill her. Luke does not pursue but tells Kylo that it isn't too late to turn away from the Dark Side. Kylo stops at this and turns back to stare silently at Luke but says nothing before storming off.

On Cantonica Rose and Finn look for their contact, who turns out to be Lando Calrissian, a friend of the Organa-Solo family. Lando offers a toast to Leia and Han, having heard of their deaths from Holdo, and offers to help the duo however he can. Finn and Rose tell him that Holdo suspects there's a traitor in Republic High Command, but Lando dismisses this. He asserts that the bulk of Republic High Command is made up of former Rebellion leaders and it's unlikely any of them is a traitor. He instead points to the Galactic Senate, which has been known to harbor sympathetic voices to the New Order but doesn't believe any vocal supporters are behind it as they lack the proper clearance. Lando informs them that as the military is under civilian oversight this means that certain high-ranking Senators have access to classified information, such as fleet movements. He is confident that the traitor is a Senator and offers to use his connections in the Senate to find out who, enlisting the aid of his own personal data slicers. Finn remarks he warned Leia not to trust anyone in the Senate to which Lando states was smart. Lando is surprised to learn that Finn is an ex-stormtrooper but doesn't judge him, stating that he's with the "good guys" now. Rose is still skeptical of Finn's allegiances but has begun to warm up to him.

Holdo's fleet arrives at Crait in hopes of using the abandoned Rebel Alliance base there to lie low for a while. Although Poe enjoys interrogating Phasma is unable to get any information out of her. Phasma escapes confinement, overpowers Poe, and takes him hostage forcing him to help her escape. Holdo is alerted to the situation and locks down the hangar. Phasma takes Poe into a shuttle in the hangar, to which Poe taunts her by saying the hangar is locked down and she's not going anywhere. Republic soldiers surround the shuttle and demand Phasma's surrender. Phasma mocks Poe and tells him she never in tended to escape before booting up the shuttle's long-range transmitter and sending a signal to the New Order fleet. Holdo attempts to block the signal but is too late and the signal is sent. Poe questions Phasma's sanity, stating that the New Order fleet will destroy the Republic fleet and thus kill her, too. Phasma appears unrepentant and surrenders her weapon, content to take the Republic forces down with her. Poe, furious, knocks her conscious and delivers her to the Republic soldiers to be imprisoned again. Holdo, realizing the fleet doesn't have enough fuel to make another hyperspace jump, orders all non-essential personnel to evacuate and make for Crait's surface.

In Canto Bight Lando reveals to Rose and Finn that his data slicer has obtained information on the traitorous Senators. Having compiled a list of the traitors, Lando has arranged a meeting of corrupt Senators--both loyalists and traitors--to meet in the casino under the guise of arranging a profitable "business arrangement" they would all benefit from. He explains he intends to out the traitors publicly to the loyalists and, if the loyalists won't cooperate, use their corrupt dealings to blackmail them into doing so. Rose is disgusted by the amount of corruption in the Senate while Finn is unsurprised. After a few hours the meeting occurs and the Senators have gathered. Lando laments to Rose and Finn that not all the traitor's he invited showed, but states it doesn't matter as the loyal Senators will still expose them if all goes well. Lando disseminates the information of the traitors to the Senators under the guise of sharing the details of the "business arrangement". The loyal Senators are furious to discover their colleagues are traitors and all but one of the traitorous Senators are flabbergasted at the discovery of their treason. The one traitor Senator who seems unconcerned makes eye contact with Lando and smirks, asking him how he could betray the Republic and lead so many noble Senators to their deaths. Lando is confused by the question as the traitor Senator opens a commlink channel to New Order stormtroopers who were standing by, revealing the Senator anticipated a trap. Lando at first appears concerned as he and the loyal Senators are apparently taken captive, but before the stormtroopers can execute them Finn, Rose, and the Canto Bight Police Department--having been alerted to the plan by Lando who tipped them off as the New Order is a recognized terrorist organization by the government of Cantonica--breaches the room and initiates a fire-fight with the stormtroopers. Lando escorts the loyal Senators to safety while the traitors surrender to the CBPD and the stormtroopers are overwhelmed by the superior numbers and firepower of the CBPD. Rose is nearly killed in the fighting but is saved at the last minute by Finn, who finally convinces her to trust him.

Meanwhile, Rey is taken to Kylo's flagship and is given a audience with the Supreme Leader of the New Order--called Snoke--via hologram. Snoke claims to have great plans for Rey, but Rey tells him she will never give in to the temptations of the Dark Side. Snoke tells Kylo to break her will and dominant her mind in order to bring her to the Dark Side if she won't come of her own volition. Kylo agrees and Rey senses his fear of Snoke. Kylo encourages Rey to embrace the Dark Side, noting that the alternative will be far less pleasant. Rey tells him it's not too late to turn away from the Dark Side and that she can sense the conflict in him, to which an angry Kylo Force chokes her but then let's her go and orders her to be taken away. Kylo stares at Anakin's lightsaber, having reclaimed it from Rey's possession.

Admiral Hux arrives at Crait and begins launching an attack on the Republic fleet. Poe scrambles a desperate defense of the fleet but it's clear they are outmatched. As Holdo's ship begins to suffer critical damage she orders the crew to evacuate for the surface. With most of the Republic ships destroyed, Hux arrogantly turns his attention to the former Rebel Base and orders his ships to fire on it from orbit. Republic forces, lacking any defense from the barrage, suffer catastrophic losses. Holdo maneuvers her crippled flagship to ram into Hux's flagship before setting the ship to self-destruct. Phasma overpowers her guards and escapes the ship in the chaos, stealing a fighter and fleeing for the New Order fleet. The engulfing explosion destroys both Holdo's and Hux's flagships and kills them both. Phasma takes immediate command of all remaining New Order forces to engage and destroy the Republic forces in space. Just as the Republic forces near total defeat reinforcements arrive and force the New Order star destroyers to route. Poe, BB-8, and the other survivors rendezvous with the Republic forces including Lando, Finn, and Rose who are amazed that any forces on Crait managed to survive the bombardment, to which Poe credits Holdo's sacrifice for drawing attention away from them.

The exposure of the corrupt Senators leads to their flight or arrest by the Republic and the Supreme Chancellor orders an investigation into the entire government to root out New Order sympathizers and collaborators. The swift and decisive response restores faith in the Republic and bolsters patriotism and military recruitment as the war with the New Order begins to enter it's final phase. With the loss of most of their funding the New Order is put on the defensive for the first time and is rapidly being overpowered and routed by the superior and motivated Republic forces. Luke, believing that the Jedi Order must be fully committed to fighting servants of the Dark Side, enlists the Jedi to the war effort.

Forces of the Jedi and the Republic, led by Luke, discover and assault a New Order base on the desert world of Pasaana while Luke hunts for Rey's whereabouts. Luke, believing Rey was taken to the Supreme Leader of the New Order, interrogates captured enemy officers but they lack knowledge of Supreme Leader Snoke's whereabouts leaving Luke frustrated. Luke confronts Finn in hopes he may have insight, but Finn confesses that most in the New Order don't even know the Supreme Leader's name; let alone where he resides. However, Finn recalls in passing a conversation he overheard between two officers about a raid on a Sith vault believed to have belonged to the deceased Emperor Palpatine which he believes was located on Kijimi. Finn states that the Supreme Leader was apparently very interested in Sith vaults for unknown reasons. Luke is skeptical but, lacking any other leads, decides to investigate.

Rey, after having been sedated, awakens in an unknown New Order facility. Kylo arrives and escorts her to Supreme Leader Snoke, who is amazed by the raw power she possesses. She asks him if he is a Sith Lord, to which Snoke laughs and denies. He admits to having embraced the Dark Side but claims that the time of the Sith has long passed and that he hopes to succeed where they failed by avoiding their mistakes. He recounts to Rey the various flaws of both the Sith and Jedi while claiming that the Sith, though flawed, were on the right track. Rey, suspicious, asks how he knows so much about the Jedi and Sith to which Snoke reveals that he was a Jedi Padawan himself during the time of Order 66 and nearly died at the hands of Darth Vader himself, a duel which left him horribly disfigured as a result. He then went into hiding, channeling his anger at both the Sith for trying to destroy him and the Jedi for failing to destroy the Sith before emerging in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor to hunt down and destroy the last remnants of the Galactic Empire. Snoke then claims he changed his mind when he learned that Luke Skywalker, the son of Vader, was trying to rebuild the Jedi and so decided to unite the scattered Imperial forces in order to destroy the Jedi. He discovered the Knights of Ren, an ancient warrior order of Dark Side users who followed the teachings of the exiled Sith Lord Ren, and recruited them as his servants. But he was disappointed with the ability of the Knights, who couldn't stand up to Luke and his Jedi. Seeking a powerful servant that could challenge them, he orchestrated an attack on Tython--disguised as an attempt by the Knights to destroy the Jedi--to abduct Ben Solo and make him Snoke's apprentice. Snoke then tells Rey that, although Kylo's performance as been acceptable, he believes Rey would make a better apprentice. This shocks and enrages Kylo, who states that Snoke promised Rey would be Kylo's apprentice. Snoke scolds his disobedience and dismisses him, reminding him that Snoke is the master and that he can do as he pleases. An infuriated Kylo departs while Rey defiantly tells Snoke she won't fall to the Dark Side. Snoke mocks her and says she will whether she wants to or not.

Luke, Finn, Chewbacca, Rose, and a contingent of Republic troops travel to Kijimi and discover Palpatine's vault full of artifacts from various Force cultures, including Jedi and Sith, but no sign of Rey. The vault appears to be abandoned but just as they are about to leave they are attacked by Phasma and an elite group of New Order commandos. Despite heavy Republic casualties the commandos are defeated, Rose is injured, and Phasma is thrown over a ledge by Chewbacca. Finn attends to Rose's injuries while Luke offers to help Phasma up but only if she tells them where Snoke is and what they were doing in the vault. Phasma initially refuses, to which Luke resigns to let her fall to her death much to the surprise of Rose, Finn, and Chewbacca. Phasma calls his bluff, citing that it would go against Jedi teachings to leave her to die. Luke ignores her and begins to walk away as Phasma begins to lose her grip. Desperate, she relents and confesses she was looking for a star map to other Sith vaults which Snoke had hidden there long ago but claims not to know where Snoke is or why he wants the map now. Luke is skeptical, but being a Jedi, is forced to help her up. Phasma is apparently grateful before drawing a vibroknife and attempting to kill Luke only to be stopped by Chewbacca, who tears off her arm and throws her into the chasm to her death. Luke and Chewbacca begin looking for the map while Finn and Rose confess their attraction to one another.

Meanwhile Kylo and Snoke introduce Rey to Admiral Enric Pryde, a former Moff of the Galactic Empire, who tells her she is on the ancient Sith world of Exegol and gives her a tour of an ancient Sith foundry built using technology from the Star Forge--an ancient factory built by the Rakatan Infinite Empire and fueled by the Dark Side of the Force--which can construct warships, war droids, and weapons from the Force itself. Pryde reveals that the facility was completed but never used as the Sith were destroyed before they could activate it and that the manufactory can quite literally create an army out of thin air, with which the New Order intends to destroy the Republic and the Jedi with overwhelming force. However, Pryde admits that in order to power the device--in typical Sith fashion--it would require a mass sacrifice of living organisms and the lack of sacrifices is why it was never activated. Rey, noting that Exegol is apparently lifeless, asks how they intend to activate it to which Kylo ominously reveals that the Republic will help them.

Republic forces, commanded by Admiral Gial Akbar, begin searching the coordinates on the map obtained from Palpatine's vault on Kijimi. Lando assists in the search by using his underworld contacts, citing that Republic forces are spread too thin to search every planet. Luke meditates on the worlds listed on the map while Finn, recognizing one of the planets, asks Poe to take him there. Poe asks why, to which Finn claims it's just a hunch. Poe is skeptical but agrees and departs with BB-8. Luke's meditation leads him to a vision of Ahch-To--which is not on the map--and he departs with C-3PO and R2-D2, but is surprised to find the planet wasn't a Sith world but was in fact homed to an ancient Jedi stronghold. Luke begins searching the ruins of the Jedi Temple there but finds nothing and begins to depart before being confronted by the spirit of his father, Anakin Skywalker. Anakin tells Luke not to give up on Ben and says he can still be redeemed, to which Luke is still skeptical and asserts that Ben killing his own father pushes him beyond redemption. Anakin then shamefully confesses to Luke that he was responsible for the death of his wife Padme Amidala, Luke and Leia's mother, when he first fell to the Dark Side. Luke is horrified to learn this and lashes out at his father but Anakin reminds Luke that he never gave up on him and through doing so he was still redeemed in spite of all the evil he inflicted on the Galaxy, stating that the Force is forgiving. Luke does not respond. Anakin encourages Luke not to give up on Ben before departing.

Poe, Finn, and BB-8 travel to Exegol as Finn tells Poe that he remembers hearing the name before once while accidentally eavesdropping on a discussion between Admiral Hux and Field Marshal Phasma and recognized it when he saw it on the list of worlds in the Sith map. Poe, upon noticing the enormous facility on the planet's surface and seeing the vast army of New Order forces, suggests contacting the Republic to begin a full-scale assault but Finn worries that it was too easy to find and convinces Poe to infiltrate the base instead and find out what Snoke is up to. After landing undetected and sneaking into the facility, Finn and Poe learn about the nature of the facility and the New Order's plan to lure Republic forces into a trap over the planet. Before they can escape to warn the Republic Finn and Poe are discovered by Zeroes, who lashes out at Finn for shooting him, betraying the New Order, and killing Nines on Takodana. Finn expresses regret for killing Nines and urges Zeroes to leave the New Order, but Zeroes refuses and alerts nearby stormtroopers who stun Poe and Finn and take them to detainment. BB-8, having stayed with the shuttle, sends a distress signal to the Republic when Poe and Finn don't return - unaware of the trap laid by Snoke.

Luke leaves Ahch-To to help Akbar and Lando with the search, but as R2 scans the planets listed on the mape he notes that one world--Kef Bir, one of the moons of Endor--already existed in his databanks to Luke's surprise. R2 states it was the planet Lor traveled to and discovered the Sith holocron. Luke, suspicious, travels to the planet. Upon arriving he discovers another Sith vault and the decaying corpses of two Knights of Ren who had been killed some time ago by someone with a lightsaber. Luke deduces they had been sent to recover the holocron that Lor had taken, but were killed by Lor. To his surprise he finds a still-active comlink containing a recorded message from Lor for the Republic or the Jedi. The recording recounts Lor's discovery of the existence of Exegol and the facility there, how it works, and that the Sith holocron he's discovered leads directly the planet and that it must not fall into the hands of the New Order. Luke departs for Republic space immediately to warn them of the threat but discovers that Akbar, Lando, and the bulk of the Republic fleet, having been given Exegol's coordinates thanks to BB-8, are already en route to the planet. Luke returns to Tyhton to assemble the Jedi in order to confront Snoke.

Kylo attempts to convince Rey to join him and overthrow Snoke, but Rey doesn't believe they're strong enough to beat him and has no desire to rule the Galaxy with Kylo. Kylo tells her he believes that the two of them along with the Knights of Ren are more than enough to defeat Snoke, but Rey rebukes him and tells him the Knights are loyal to Snoke; not him. Kylo dismisses this and storms off. Suspicious, he confronts the Knights to gauge their loyalties to which they reaffirm their loyalty to Snoke and unabashedly state that if Kylo were to turn against him they would fight him. Furious and feeling betrayed Kylo lashes out and attacks the Knights who, despite having superior numbers, are destroyed by Kylo. Admiral Pryde witnesses the display and chastises Kylo for his lack of control. Kylo attempts to intimidate him, but Pryde rebuffs him and informs him there have only ever been three men he was afraid of: Vader, Palpatine, and Snoke. He then taunts Kylo stating he's nothing but an insolent child compared to them. Kylo then threatens to kill Pryde, but Pryde belittles him and leaves to take command of New Order's fleet for the coming battle; leaving Kylo to vent his frustration alone. The ghost of Anakin then appears before him and chastises Kylo for what he's become. Kylo, who doesn't recognize Anakin, demands to know who he is to which Anakin states he is merely a Jedi who walked the same path that Kylo did. The two bicker over the Dark Side and Anakin tells Kylo he was only ever a tool of Snoke's to be used, thrown away, and then replaced. Kylo, furious, vows to kills Rey but Anakin tells him his anger is misplaced; he tells him from experience that anger and hatred only lead to destruction and that the Dark Side inevitably leads to betrayal and ruin. He cautions Kylo to abandon the darkness inside him, but Kylo refuses. Anakin then tells him his mother, Leia, is dead. Kylo is shocked by this but pretends to hide it, lying and stating he's glad. Anakin calls him out on his lie and asks if he felt the same way when he killed his father. Kylo, conflicted and furious, demands to know who he is. Anakin doesn't answer, but instead gestures to his lightsaber--hanging from Kylo's belt--and states that it's a Jedi weapon and that it belongs to a Jedi. Kylo dismisses this and states it belongs to him, to which Anakin agrees. Kylo then realizes he's speaking to his grandfather and calls him Vader, to which Anakin tells him that Darth Vader is dead and that Kylo Ren should join him. Kylo is offended and states he has no intention of dying. Anakin tells him that just because Kylo Ren needs to die doesn't mean Ben Solo has to join him. Kylo does not respond, and Anakin departs.

The Republic fleet arrives over Exegol and the overeager Republic forces, noting the lack of any kind of orbital defenses, believe they've caught the New Order by surprise. Remembering the Battle of Endor, Akbar and Lando are unnerved by the apparent lack of even a token defense fleet and are convinced this is a trap. They instruct their forces to retreat but before they can jump into hyperspace three New Order fleets arrive, each with a pair of Interdictors that trap the Republic fleet in a gravity well field while ground-to-orbital cannons begin firing on the Republic forces. Luke and the Jedi--along with Chewbacca and a cleared-for-duty Rose--arrive to assist the fleet and ask Akbar and Lando to clear the way for the Jedi Strike Force to land on the planet, to which they oblige by punching a hole through the enemy forces. Stormtroopers are sent to repel the invaders and Poe and Finn escape during the confusion, each going their separate ways. Poe steals a TIE fighter and reunited with BB-8, who went looking for him, heads for orbit to head the Republic forces. Poe is nearly shot down by Rapier Squadron before identifying himself, much to Poe's own squads' amusement at his own expense. Poe then takes command of Rapier Squadron once more while Finn begins searching for a way to sabotage the ground-to-orbital cannons and give the Republic a fighting chance.

Kylo leads Rey to Snoke, who tells Rey that every death that occurs on and around Exegol--Republic or New Order--will fuel the manufactory and allow him to build a literal empire from the ashes of the battle. He laments that this would have been easier had the Death Star III that was under construction at Starkiller Base not been destroyed, but is confident the results will be the same. He gloats that while both sides will be heavily depleted from the fighting, only the New Order will be able to rebuild swiftly and shatter what remains of the Republic without effort. Akbar recognizes several tactics being utilized by the New Order ships as reminisicent of strategies used by Grand Admiral Thrawn of the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War. He realizes Pryde, who tutored under Thrawn and disappeared into the Unknown Regions after the Battle of Endor, is likely the one leading the enemy forces. Lando remarks that Thrawn was unbeatable and asks how AKbar plans to deal with Pryde. Akbar reminds Lando that Pryde isn't Thrawn and that he has one weakness that can be easily exploited: arrogance. Unable to determine which star destroyer is the command vessel, Akbar sends out an offer to negotiate the Republic's surrender - addressing Pryde by name. Pryde's ego forces him to take the bait and responds to Akbar, mocking him for his apparent cowardice and ineptitutde. Pryde states he has no intention of accepting a surrender and begins to rant about the failures of the Republic and the superiority of the New Order. Akbar keeps him talking while his crew trace the holo signal back to Pryde's star destroyer, information which Akbar then subtly passes on to Lando and the rest of the fleet. Lando and Poe spearhead the attack on Pryde's flagship in the Falcon while Akbar moves his flagship, Home One, into position to engage Pryde's star destroyer. Pryde realizes the deception all too late as Republic forces begin to hammer his star destroyer relentlessly. Akbar mocks Pryde by stating Thrawn never would have fell for that. Pryde, incensed, attempts to retort but Akbar cuts the holo and orders the fleet to focus maximum fire on Pryde's ship. Pryde attempts to flee in an escape pod but his ship is destroyed before it can launch, killing him. Lando asks if they have a chance at victory now, to which Akbar muses that they probably don't.

Snoke senses Luke's presence on Exegol to which Kylo asks if he wants him to kill him. Snoke belittles Kylo by stating he could never defeat Luke and instructs Kylo to allow Luke to come to him. Kylo, enraged, threatens Snoke to which Snoke laughs. Kylo mentions that he slaughtered the last of the Knights of Ren in an attempt to prove his power, but Snoke states this only proves his incompetence as without any Force-users to fight the Jedi will overwhelm the New Order stormtroopers with ease meaning less dead Jedi. Kylo proclaims he'll slaughter every Jedi whose set foot on Exegol and Snoke responds by electrocuting him until he collapses to the ground, telling him he will do only as he is instructed and nothing more. Rey intervenes and once again attempts to draw Kylo away from the Dark Side much to Snoke's amusement. Snoke explains that there are two types of Dark Side users: those who have enslaved the Dark Side and those who are enslaved by it. Snoke proudly declares himself as being in the former category while smugly mocking Kylo as being in the latter. He claims that Kylo is too weak to break his chains--as the Sith would say--and that instead of channeling his emotions to fuel his power he is instead a slave to his emotions, a failing that many Sith Lords embodied throughout history. Rey refuses to accept that Kylo is too far gone and helps him up, much to his surprise. Snoke sense the doubt in Kylo and states it's another sign of his weakness.

Rose and Chewbacca, leading a group Republic saboteurs that landed with the Jedi, encounter Finn and realize they're all on the same mission. Fighting their way through stormtroopers the group discovers the central reactor for the entire complex and begin setting demolition charges. Finn theorizes that because of the size of the reactor and the facility it comprises the resulting explosion could end up tearing out a good chunk of the planet and they should probably be off-world before detonating. Rose contacts Luke and the other Jedi to let them know what's happening, but while she's distracted she is taken at gunpoint from behind by Zeroes, who angrily holds her hostage as he confronts Finn. Finn gets Chewbacca and the Republic soldiers to stand down and tries to reason with Zeroes, who still blames Finn for the death of Nines. The two argue about each other, the New Order, Nines, Slip, and the Republic before Finn convinces Zeroes that if he's going to point his blaster at anyone it should be him. Zeroes agrees and let's Rose go before pressing his blaster up to Finn's forehead. Finn continues talking to the still-angry Zeroes, attempting to reason with him by bringing up their friendship, remarking how they're the last survivors of their squad, and how their lives meany nothing to Snoke, Hux, Pryde, Phasma, or the New Order and that they were just as expendable as the Clone Troopers. Finn then tells Zeroes that if he's going to shoot him then he should just get it over with. Zeroes attempts to pull the trigger but can't and slowly lowers the weapon. Finn gently takes it from him and Finn tells the Republic soldiers to arrest Zeroes. Finn assures Zeroes that the Republic will give him a choice that the New Order never would have. Zeroes tearfully remarks he wish Slip and Nines had gotten the same chance, to which Finn agrees and they share a hug.

Luke arrives at Snoke's chambers and Kylo go to face him while Snoke watches on. Luke and Kylo stare at one another but neither attacks. Luke walks past Kylo without a word, who does nothing to Snoke's amusement. Snoke remarks how Kylo continues to prove his weakness while Luke retorts that recognizing one's own limits is not a weakness, and encourages Snoke to try it sometime. Snoke rebuffs Luke and says even he isn't powerful enough to destroy him. Luke remarks that even he, alone, could never defeat Snoke on his own but that the three of them--Luke, Kylo, and Rey--can. Snoke rises from his seat and says they can try as he draws and ignites his lightsaber. Rey joins Luke's side and Luke turns back to Kylo and gestures for him to join them, but Kylo doesn't move - merely standing by and watching. Snoke mocks Kylo for his cowardice. Luke draws two lightsabers and hands one to Rey, who ignites it, while igniting the other. The two then fight Snoke while Kylo stands back and spectates. Rey is no match for Snoke and is easily overpowered but Luke is able to hold his own while trying to protect Rey from Snoke. Eventually Luke, too, is overpowered and flung across the room while Snoke zeroes in on Rey. Rey's lightsaber is cut in half and she is nearly killed by a lightsaber strike from Snoke, but this is blocked at the last moment by Kylo - who hands Anakin's lightsaber to Rey. Snoke remarks that Kylo found his courage too little, too late to which Luke--back in the fight--retorts it's never too late. The three fight with Snoke and while Kylo is able to last longer than Rey only Luke proves to be a match for Snoke, but only for a little while. Kylo is mortally wounded, Rey is viciously electrocuted, and Luke is quickly being overpowered when more Jedi arrive to help. Luke and the Jedi are able to overpower Snoke momentarily but he quickly reverses his fortune, slaying the Jedi, and once again overpowering Luke. Luke is disarmed and then electrocuted while a barely-conscious Rey scrambles to her feet, reclaims her lightsaber, and then stabs Snoke in the back before collapses from her injuries. Snoke, still alive but grievously injured, turns away from Luke to Force-choke Rey but is then decapitated by Kylo - who throws his saber from across the room. An injured Luke scrambles to his feet and helps Rey up as they both go to check on Kylo, who with his dying breath apologizes to Luke for failing as a Jedi. Luke dismisses his claim; stating that he hasn't failed at all. Kylo expresses regret at the deaths of Leia and Han and asks Luke if they could forgive him. Luke tells him they would if they could and calls him Ben one last time before he dies. Rey expresses regret that she couldn't save him, but Luke tells her she did.

Rose, Chewbacca, Finn, Luke, Rey, the Jedi, the Republic soldiers, and a captured Zeroes escape from Exegol before Rose detonates the explosives in the reactor; setting off a chain reaction that destroy the facility and blasts an enormous crater into the surface of the planet rendering it permanently tectonically unstable and destroying innumerable Sith ruins in the process. The destruction of the base and the deaths of Snoke and Pryde throw the New Order forces into disarray, with several officers attempting to take command. The Interdictors are attacked and destroyed by the demoralized New Order forces, the bulk of which then flee into hyperspace in separate directions. Several ships surrender outright and others are destroyed by the Republic forces.

The Republic, on the cusp of victory, begins hunting down and destroying the remnants of the New Order; refusing to be complacent like it was with the Imperial remnants. The heroes are rewarded for their valiant service in defense of the Republic. Lando and Chewy go into business together on Canto Bight, Akbar formally retires from military service and begins running for Senator of Mon Cala/Dac, Finn formally joins the Republic Army and begins a relationship with Rose, Rey is officially elevated from Padawan to Jedi Knight, Poe passes up a promotion in order to continue leading Rapier Squadron, and Zeroes is rehabilitated as part of the Republic's Stormtrooper Deconditioning Program which helps captured stormtroopers by de-brainwashing them and helping them to integrate into civilian life in the Republic.

Whew, almost ran out of characters to type all that up with. :p

WARNING: it's long! So, y'know, make sure you have time to read it before you do. Also don't spoil anything for anyone, please. I take constructive criticism; this is essentially a "rough draft".

I don’t actually think it’s terribly long - my reading only took around 18 minutes for all three.

Decent enough stuff at least, can’t see I really see any improvements over the existing movies (other than coherent theming, though your’s seems principally in the lack of it). I do appreciate the effort to actually work in the “rebuilding is hard” direction.

Update 1: Two paragraphs in. Love that you immediately established Phasma as a villain with actual threat and presence with her execution of a Jedi while simultaneously establishing that the Jedi Order believes this holocron is both important enough to retrieve before the First Order AND that they are focused on keeping it out of the First Order's hand showing that unlike the New Republic, Luke's Jedi Order views the New Order formed from Imperial remnants as a threat along with Leia's holdout forces, which only makes sense given Luke and Leia's own experience with the Empire. This also sets ups potential ties between these two organizations and begs the question of how the Republic views all of these entities and what their official relationship with Luke and Leia's organizations are. Are they viewed somewhat as heroes who couldn't move past their glory days and are now merely vigilantes or even independent outcast forces?

I haven't had this fun thinking about Star Wars since the sequel trilogy came out! Thank you so much for this feeling of joy. : )
