Worst Movie?

Postby Amorosa-Coonarra Coasts » Mon Nov 02, 2020 4:55 am

Probably Transformers: The Last Knight and Age of Extinction:

The Last Knight:

It was so boring, from the start I was barely invested, nothing interesting at all. The CGI isn't that great, and I'm just thankful that 'Bumblebee' is around! The first three are fine to me, but this is a clear example of a franchise going on too long and directors who couldn't care less; just show us Optimus and Bumblebee and some random characters and a stupid human plotline and bland one-dimensional characters..the list goes on and on of how this movie is bad.

Age of Extinction:

The amount of Chinese pandering is...not super shocking, but what is is the product placement that is rampant throughout this whole bloody thing, from Oreo Bots (yes, there is) and literally - Stanley Tucci turning transformium into a Beats speaker and drinking Shuhua Milk, at least six instances of Budweiser and Chevrolet product placement....it's everywhere!

The scene where Optimus goes on about how "it's a separate ship" is one of the most contrived and frustratingly convenient to the plot moments I've ever witnessed in cinema. Plot holes exist everywhere in the movie, and it goes on for far too long.

Foodfight! is at least 'so bad, it's insane how bad it is'. Norm of the North? Overlong juvenile humor. Emoji Movie? Silicon Valley corporate cynicism. The Room? 'So stupidly bad, it's good.' Pixels? Stupidly funny and a sometimes sweet, sometimes sour arcade novelty. Wreck it Ralph, with Adam Sandler + Home, if you will.

But this is a $200 million blockbuster, Bay! You do have artistic merit, but you need to rediscover it better and find balance between profit, style and substance.

It's a toss-up between Mahagony and The Food of the Gods. I do have to say that either or both of them could have staged a late-inning comeback, but I walked out on both about halfway through.

It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen, I laughed so hard.

Oh man, my mom loves those Lifetime movies. Every single one I've seen with her has been absolutely ridiculous. There was this one (I forget what it was called) where this woman is pregnant and this other woman becomes obsessed with her and decides to steal her baby, so she drugs the pregnant woman and takes her to her house along with a doctor (who she kidnapped at gunpoint) and forces the doctor to deliver the baby in her bedroom. When the pregnant woman comes to and realizes her baby's gone, there's absolutely zero signs that she's just given birth. There's no mess, her clothes and hair look pristine. The only thing that's suspicious is that she no longer had a baby bump.

True, the Emoji Movie is another unoriginal and downright cynical exercise by uncreative money-drunken Hollywood exec hacks geared towards kids.
It's no different from the cartoon live-action remakes like the Smurfs or Alvin and the Chipmunks, or Minions; clearly designed to profit off selling toys in Happy Meals.

In my opinion, there are worse movies, whether it be insulting to the fandom, like Jem and the Holograms; to me, one of the worst films of the decade, or eye-gougingly ugly such as the constituency of Foodfight or Strawinsky, and clear desperate marketing pushes like the Fred movies.

So Bad They're Funny Movies:
Kung Fu Dunk
Shaolin Soccer
Something in the Woods

Genuinely Terrible Movies:
Kung Fu Hustle
Attack of the Mushroom People
The Emoji Movie

It's amazing what weird crap you can find on the various streaming services. There's a movie on Amazon Prime called Velocipastor that I'm half tempted to watch purely because the title is hilarious.

I am pretty open to any type of genre when it comes to movies, but there was one movie that i watched in theaters that i actually walked out on and i was only 30 minutes in, the movie was Super Trooper 2. I just felt they were trying to hard to be funny. :(

Orson Welles adaption of Macbeth was so disappointing I stopped watching it after twenty minutes and took the DVD back to the shop and refunded it. Too many liberties are taken with the play's structure, and the cast's attempts to speak with authentic Scots accents render comical performances which are either over-acted or blandly incompetent.

Most of those Lifetime movies are awful. They're pretty much the same plot rehashed over and over and over again: Rich which suburban housewife is terrorized by her ex/kids' nanny/neighbor/housekeeper/long-lost twin/mother-in-law/etc. The protagonist makes a bunch of stupid decisions and the police are incredibly incompetent. People get killed (usually stabbed or poisoned) and it's made to look like an accident or suicide. At the climax the protagonist faces off against the antagonist, and usually the antagonist dies (or pretends to die) or is arrested. Movie ends with the protagonist going right back to her normal life as if nothing ever happened. No physical or psychological damage whatsoever. If the antagonist lives, they're either in a mental institution or are living in a new town under an assumed name, looking for more rich white suburban housewives to torment.

Oh yeah. Those also suck. Again, same plot: Single white woman who is a workaholic in a big city winds up in a small town that goes all in on Christmas. She meets a single white man who works for his parents in some Christmas-related business (such as a Christmas tree farm) and they fall in love. He proposes and they marry on Christmas Day, and she leaves behind her job and the city to work with her new husband in their Christmas business.

I watched one with my mom last year about this woman who is a scientist who starts dating a man who turns out to be the child of Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the Clauses come to her house to stay for a while. Anyway, the woman's dad (I think?) gets suspicious of this Claus guy and takes a DNA sample and runs it.

The way they portrayed DNA analysis was so inaccurate. He took the sample, stuck it on this thing that looked like a fingerprint scanner, and all of this data just magically started popping up on his computer (including an image from gel electrophoresis! he didn't even run a gel!). To top it all off, a message popped up on the computer that said that the DNA sample did not match anyone, and all of this took place in a matter of seconds.

Look, I'm willing to give a little leeway to movies when it comes to portraying science, especially fantasy movies. I don't expect the writers to get every little detail about DNA analysis correct. Maybe I'm being overly critical since I actually am going to be doing this for a living when I finish up college, but I swear the writers of this movie didn't even try to make it seem realistic.
