No I didn't back then. I do have one now, but I really only use it to catalogue my record collection. I think I reviewed like two albums, and one of them I only reviewed because I had to go through the process of adding it to the database so I could put it in my digital collection.

Out of those, I've only listened to the Radiohead ones and the U2 one. I think the album Gran Turismo by The Cardigans sort of has that vibe, though it's not an album I like that much (the singles from it are good though).
Pop isn't that great imo. For U2, I'd recommend Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and Zooropa.

Also I may not have been clear, U2 is one of the ones I do know their discography very well. I agree with everything you said though!

A whole lot has changed for me (I was about 12 or 13 at the time). I can't imagine how much it's changed for you as well!

I'm also not a fan of U2's 90s albums. To me, everything between 1988 and 1999 should not have happened.
To me it's the stuff after Pop where U2 bought too much into their own legend status and forgot they should be pushing boundaries rather than living too comfortably in them. I will say there are some decent songs spread across the 00's stuff, mostly the hits, but as records they don't stand up to anything Zooropa and prior. Although No Line On The Horizon does take a shot at getting out of their comfort zone again and mostly succeeds. That one is worth listening all the way through. But otherwise it's been a creative drought forever 20 years.

I would recommend Selected Ambient Works 85–92 by Aphex Twin, it’s not for everyone but if you liked Kid A, you’ll love it
