What Would Be A Great Place For The Next Fallout Game?

Ah the Fallout franchise. One of the most well known and best games of all time. It’ll be many years till Fallout 5 will be announced. But I want to hear from you what would be an epic place to have the next Fallout game to take place in?

I think Louisiana would be really a good location.
Some of the game could revolve around the culture of the area such as voodoo magic. It also provides a unique environment such as large areas of swamps to explore. There would be mutated gators and water snakes, etc.

It would be cool to see a place outside the US. Maybe London?

If it stays in the US I'd like a nice swamp area south Florida or Louisiana.

Outside of the US I'd like see parts of China and see what happened over there.

One would have been featured in Fallout Tactics 2 if it wasn’t cancelled.

London might be interesting. Paris, Monaco, Rome, Stockholm, Moscow, Istanbul, Hong Kong, or Tokyo would be, as well.

New Orleans, perhaps? Maybe Houma, as well. I wouldn't mind a rust belt or great lakes city.

Russia. The entire country.

Florida. You could have mutated gators take down a Deathclaw.

I'd like to see them go more naturey with their next location - think upstate New York, Seattle, Portland, Austin, Boulder, etc.

We already have that, it's called Metro 2033.

Milton Keynes. The nukes would improve the architecture dramatically.

Svalbard Island, especially considering the Global Seed Vault (That said, I am not sure if it was built in this timeline due of it being way past point of divergence, but it would be kind of fun to see it as an actual pre-war vault). That said, it would mean that devs would need to research about Norwegian culture and landscape of that time, or at least get fans from Norway to help.

Denver. IIRC that was to be a location in the BIS version of FO3. It would be cool to see. It's supposed to be a city where the streets are too dangerous to roam because of packs of extremely large and powerful cyberdogs, so all the settlements are high up in skyscrapers and other tall buildings connected by bridges.

Could you imagine them taking Fallout out of the U.S. and maybe into England, perhaps set it in Leeds or Huddersfield areas (towns I know of); perhaps scavenging in Seacroft or hunting around Huddersfield.

That would be interesting. We know that Toronto is a significant settlement within the FO universe as it is mentioned in FO3: The Pitt. That would be interesting to see as well given that Canada had been recently annexed by the Americans before the bombs dropped and how that would playout in cultural development post-apocalypse.

The Fallout games are inextricably tied to the US, and moving them out of there would undermine the critique it subtly puts forward.

In that vein, the only correct answer would be the South, somewhere swampy and gator-y like Florida or Louisiana. New Orleans would probably be a really cool place to set a Fallout game ngl.

What if I were to say a massive metropolis like New York City? If I recall correctly, they only appeared in the lore and not as a playable map.

Well there is Fallout: Miami that is being made by a bunch of dedicated fans.

Also, I somewhat agree but American culture has definitely influenced Canada and to a lesser extent Mexico. You could set them in these countries, especially in border areas, to also critique America through a lens of a foreign culture clash. Europe or elsewhere would be less relevant.

With Canada it would be even better since a lot of Americans are generally unaware of the pervasive anti-Americanism in Canada which would be an interesting thing to portray. A game set in the Ronto could show a clash between post-apoc Americans and Canadians, especially given that Canada had been outright annexed by the US before the bombs fell and without a doubt the Canadian survivors would blame Americans for the state of the world.

I have to say that the main location is likely to remain in the equivalent to the United States, not just because of the geographic narrative of the lore, but because they have not reinvented air travel to a point of general affordability. The United States is still a terrible mess in 2287.

However, I can agree that the question of who fired first in the Great War could be finally answered … even if it is just to affirm that it was indeed China, because they simply could not face defeat, and that maybe one or two of their commanders defied the order to retaliate à la Stanislav Petrov.

Might be a bit biased, but the NCR needs to be revisited. It hasn't been seen since Fallout 2.
