Does anyone know any fun horde nations in EU4 I should try? I've never really played anything aside from European countries and the Ottomans before so this might be a breath of fresh air.

I did it once a few years back and conquered most of Asia and Russia in a few hundred years. Though that was... years ago like i said so i dont know how it would be with all the new dlc etc. Also im near certain i used an overhaul mod.

But it was still a lot of fun.

Well, I'll certainly try to whenever I feel like playing hordes. I still have a Spain campaign going on currently but playing two camapigns at the same time never hurt anyone.

Managed a good start on a The Knights game finally.

Allied venice, took Byzantium. Waited for the Ottomans to derp around with the Mamluks, waited a year or two, attacked, have now seized all their greek states on the coast, vastly improving my ability to solo them if necessary, but especially improving my chances with the Venetian fleet as backup.

Now it's just a matter of eating the ottomans over a series of wars, and marching to Jerusalem after that. Then constant crusading time. The entirety of Asia is open to us.

May also slowly nibble at france until I can maybe just outright replace them at some point, and end up being "France" (With the Jerusalem mechanics and buffs) for a new mission tree and for the lulz.

Divine+Admin for a further 5% core cost reduction seems nice.


A note to those who want to try it:

The Malta base is absolutely essential. With constant raiding whenever you can, you will still have a long-term budget deficit. With malta added to increase your range, you will just about be breaking even, albeit taking loans and paying them off towards the tail end.

With constantinople added too, you will be slightly profitable in the long term as you add the black sea to possible raiding locations.

At this point I took the papal "get rid of inflation" buff because i'm a perfectionist ;p

Finally finished my first Vic2 campaign. Played as the USA, made a Great Society (troll). Largest party is the Socialist Party, passed all welfare reforms, got proportional representation. Total population of around 120 million, largest navy (70 ships), one of the largest armies, and a GDP of around 30 million pounds ($154 million USD, $3 billion USD today).
