CA has been trying to adopt elements of PDX's format for it's strategic level since Empire, but they've never really gotten the right feel as far as I know.

HOI4 is the simplest Paradox game. Everything from industry to diplomacy is streamlined, warfare can be as involved as you want, and you can pretty much just zone out while playing it.

My main reason for getting it is because I’ve heard it’s the best out of all the paradox strategy games for multiplayer, since it’s relatively fast paced, and It’s annoying having to plan out and schedule times to play EU4 or CK together since those games take up to a month to finish a campaign

Never liked play pdx games in multiplayer but from what I have been told you can finish HOI in like a 12 hour session with friends.

Astrology for the hilarious and unnecessary amount of naval speed you'll get from it, Natural Primitivism because the cold can't be that bad that far north, right, and Christian Syncretism so you have a bigger pool of genetic material to work with.

Finally trying out ck2 warhammer, it was gone for awhile, due to it getting renovating, but noticed it made its return. So Im trying it out. It clearly needs work, since I was playing Kislev, and I got norman culture conversion pop ups, but I bet if I played more of the mains, I'd get a more refined games. I just like playing the smaller factions when it comes to warhammer.

Also i need to conquer more of Germany, its mad how i only have at most 16k soldiers with all of the British Isles, Norway, Denmark and the northern German/Dutch coast under my control, but some french prick in one county has about 6-8k men on his own.

I've got a new I:R game to show off, as Istria! Queue non-existent fanfare!

So here is where I am so far at the moment. Pretty good Istria, and number one power according to score (about 3500 last time I checked). Was planning to form Illyria, but Macedon blocked the decision by taking two territories down south. Though, considering the name and the color, that might just be worth powering through for sake of the Austrian Empire pun. Too bad I went republic. Also, I've got land in Sicily! Nabbed it from Carthage during a time when I was allied to Rome. Punic War presumably fired, and so I was called to the Rome, and nabbed free clay as a result. And then there's that event to the left, we'll get to that later.

Culture map and Religion map! Found the new culture mechanics to be rather engaging, and as a republic I did a bit of RP (but also not RP since it's quite good-means you can immediately use captured cities, no conversion required!) by granting citzenship to Sicileote, Veneto and latest of them, Scordisian cultures. The last one was a demand from the Democrats, which I've let dominate as of late. Faced a lot of unrest further inland though since I was stingier with citzenship there, (no cities to benefit from, plus there are loads of cultures and granting citizenship to all of them is impractical) so it's a good thing I figured out how to assign armies to a region.

And now here's the event I hid in the corner. Yeep, we've got a Gracchi brothers (well there's only one of them) situation. Dude did an unopopular populist thing and got shanked. This would be easy enough to deal with, but the options I can choose are both not very, nice. I can either bite the bullet and face this malus for 120 months, or... ensure the dude's bill is passed, and.. yeah.

I never realized how great the EU4 map looked in HD, the problem is the UI is so small that you have to squint to read it. Oh well, I guess I’ll be going back to bad resolution at least until the next major patch comes
