Paradox Development Studio originally arose out of a small niche company making board games, and I think the attitudes and customs they inherited from those days are seriously hampering them now that they are making complex historical simulation games that sell hundreds of thousands of copies apiece. Avoiding difficult topics like it's the plague is a phenomenon fairly widespread across the video-gaming industry, but I feel that Paradox suffers from it more than most simply because of the types of games they create.

It's good to see them take on what will inevitably be a very difficult few weeks for their community moderators. ;p

I really like how they handled the topic of slavery in EU4, a game about colonialism. They portrayed it exactly as how colonizers saw slaves, a trade good

Confederate partition is utter shit. The only way to stop it in early to midgame is to disinherit children; which, depending on how fruitful the king and queen have been, can involve disinheriting a lot of children. I try to leave the disinheriting until the king only has a few years of life left, so the disinherited children aren't pissed off with him for too long.

As a pagan, I generally prefer to make the second best child my chaplain and send off the more terrible ones to die in raids until I can reach non-confederate types of partition.

Nightmare flashbacks to that time where I as Sweden captured and occupied the entire British mainland and got all of Scotland out of the peace deal because Germany had ridiculous warscore from being unbelievably incompetent and losing ridiculous manpower against France and Poland.

I know that being spy is dangerous, but it feels like out of all councilors in CK3, spymasters have fastest rotation.

Is it weird that I haven't lost a single spymaster to an assassination yet? They always without fail discover the plot before it happens. Sure, a few have died on the field of battle because they happened to be knights in addition to their spying duties, but that's understandable. Maybe it's because I always assign folk with comparatively overpowered Intrigue scores to the role.

Nah, if they have got high prowess and marshal skills I let them. Sure they occasionally die, but they have been very useful in previous wars.

Apparently CK3 crashes when you've over 1300 entrie in your dynasty tree and try to open it.

Well on my current playthrough I haven't opened the dynasty tree in quite a while, because the game would freeze for tens of seconds at a time while it was trying to load the tree. I think if I tried to load it now then it'd definitely crash. The dynasty tree slowness does need fixed, as it becomes unusable after a certain point.

Don't need 1300.My CK3 crashes at 700 :(.I think it may have something to do with intermarriage within the clan.I found multiple mirrored trees, because 100 years ago I operated a couple of cousins to get married. Now I'm probably my own distant nephew or something else.

Every time I plot to kill one of my kids I remember there's a disinherit button now, but it's always so late into the plan I don't feel like calling it off. It's been nearly a month, you'd think I'd learn by now.
