Stuff got pretty scary in my Sardinia game. So, the demon spawn's dad died at the young age of 35. I'm assuming Satan got tired of cucking him. Anyway, since none of the kids were grownups (or at least cpapable grownups, demon child incapable'd his older siblings, and the younger sibling is a baby genius) my heir was set to be a cancer-ridden cousin of mine. I unwisely usurp the kingdom of Africa as this cousin, and the tile defaults to gavelkind. Fortunately, he manages to live long enough to avert disaster by changing Africa's succession law to tanistry. Now I'm at a crossroads. Do I select the demon child as heir or his genius younger brother? Having 20+ on every stat is nice, -20 general opinion because you're breathing fire and have grown very long horns, not so much. So, which do I choose?

Also some stuff unrelated to the demon child but still in the Sardinia game.
I set up a vassal merchant republic in Kaybila. Putting out a fair some of money for my realm. Also invites Berber raiders from west Africa that make good target practice for my forces.
I have vassals in England of all places. Wrangling bloodlines will do that to 'ya.
Finished my first great work, which I started up the construction of with, Abbasid reparation money I believe? Anyway it's the gardens, for private conversations and free herbs. Hoping to build a university next. Or maybe a port in Kaybila to supercharge my vassal MR.

Zoroastrians have demons in their mythology IIRC, but I don't think demons are a thing in most of those other religions. Hellenic and Germanic could probably use substitutes given their rich mythologies. Not sure about the others, but I don't think any of the Eastern religions could.

Was considering swearing fealty to one of the already exisisting empires then declaring a claimant war, but I decided to make my own instead. Also tanistry makes my head spin. Too many vassals have the right to vote. I've bought so maaany favors now.

EDIT: I holy war'd Alexandria away to add yet another Patriarch to our growing number of popes-but-not-popes-since-the-pope-is-first-among-equals. Also the Black Death came and slaughtered the invading army to a a measly 5000 troops. Still won though.

Positive. I've conquered Berbers enough times with non-Berbers to know it takes forever to flip their counties, partly because half my vassals keep turning into Berbers for some reason.

Once you go Berber you can't go back, I guess.

I let a demon kid live once, in a Byzantine Empire campaign a few years ago. Tho i never played as them, i played as their Brother (father died when we were both quite young, or it might have been mother? anyway regency time then adulthood) and he caused me all sorts of problems alongside his entire side of the family. I ended up giving him a county in the middle of Anatolia, he married, had kids etc

He became a bit of a psycho and adopted Bogomilism as did his family. He then killed a few of my siblings, became my rival, his kids started fucking one another when they became adults and started having incest kids. He then tried to kill me so i tried to imprison him, he escaped, rose in rebellion. Crushed his rebel army, imprisoned him, he escaped somehow magically after being captured, then i became a tyrant when i immediately imprisoned him again without cause and executed him before he could escape or kill me, and i think i killed his whole family too.

Said executions of a bunch of people related to me pissed everyone off and the empire went through a period of mass civil war for a while till enough people got their heads knocked in by the imperial army, across two emperors because they were still mad when i died and went on to my next character. I think i posted about it on here in one of the earlier threads.

As such i typically try and kill any spawns of satan, because that was wack yo. Ive also never properly played as one either.

I've encountered the event five times, I think. The first time I let it happen because I didn't know what would happen. Thankfully he only killed two of my kids before dying of a disease of some kind. This was back before Reaper's Due so surviving diseases was more a matter of luck.

Second time he killed all my kids and became my heir. I tried to stop it by assassinating his French maid before she committed ritual suicide, but that didn't work. When I died and he took over, everybody hated me. Got excommunicated, holy war'd into oblivion, and then assassinated.

Third time it was one of my extremely rare Muslim plays. 1337 start date, Ottomans. My half-African daughter was the one possessed. This was before Paradox let Muslim women rule anything yet that didn't stop her from offing all my fucking children anyway. Had to marry her off to the Sultan of Mauretania - as far the fuck away from me as possible. Thankfully having four wives does have it's perks.

Fourth & fifth time I just straight up used a cheat mod to kill him the minute he was born. No regrets. Demon kids aren't worth the trouble. Honestly if they'd stop offing all my kids with a snap of their fingers, it wouldn't be so intolerable. But it is because they do.
