Where do the 'North Andean', 'South Andean', 'Platinian' come from? There are similarities between Colombians, Ecuadorians and Venezuelans but generally we consider ourselves differently

I've always felt that Paradox's handling of defining cultures and culture groups, especially for those in the New World, is really awkward and unsatisfying. I get that it will always have to be arbitrary to a certain degree, but it's still one of my pet peeves. One of the only decisions they've made regarding cultures that I wholeheartedly agree with was removing Texan as a separate culture in Vic3 from Vic2.

In Vicky 3, with the CotS DLC or update, the Nationalism tech splits those big S.A. cultures into the modern national identities. I'm not sure how accurate that is to the actual time and place.

Anyone in the thread an expert on 19th-century Latin American nation-building?

I don't know why I had thought about CK3 that "if cultures are too close for hybridization to make sense you shouldn't be able to convert them neither".
Although I guess that would mean that getting along with cultures that share same heritage should be much easier.

I tried playing Imperator a few years back and it didnt click for me at all. Didnt enjoy it that much.

Before or after 2.0? If pre-2.0, it's probably worth giving it another shot. And secondarily, the Invictus mod is supposedly the "best" and essential way to play.

That being said, I've spent the past several years telling myself that I should get back to that game sometime and never actually doing it, so I don't have a real recommendation to back those suggestions up.

Ughhhhh, Nationstates comes back online and Bralia gives us assigned reading as soon as it does, like a teacher who gives homework the first day back from a holiday.

Anyway, I like what I see here. I haven't played CK3 in months but After the End finally being released for it is making me want to get back in. Might splurge on any expansions I don't own next time there's a sale.

Imperator is a very intimidating game, but unfortunately it didn’t spec its intimidation points very well.

It warms my heart to enjoy Hearts of Iron IV again. Put a lot of hours in back during the first 3 or 4 expansions, stopped playing it for a few years excluding a few attempts to get back into it, and now I've been putting a good amount of hours into it again. The way the "meta" changed over the years took a bit to get used to, but thanks to a few youtubers I learned how to somewhat properly build divisions, and with RT56 being a great albeit annoyingly chaotic mod I am succeeding without cheats or cheese way more than I would have been.
The best part of the evolution of the game? More so than any DLC addition or jump in QOL is the fact I don't feel obligated to make only <20, 20, and 40 width divisions nor do I have to slap Engineers and Recon on every template.

It’s quite fun financing Poland’s military with infantry equipment and artillery as Germany, bleeding the Red Army white. Sure this means I can only occupy Western Europe, but then I control Gibraltar instead of Baku. It is an interesting geopolitical trade off and it leaves the Reich much stronger for the theoretical Cold War or even limited war that would result.

Ah, victory points, increasingly irrelevant.
