War in heaven is on boys and i decided to go down the road of the non aligned league.

Hoping they kill one another till my empire is back in shape to take them on, im back in the positive for alloys, minerals, food and special resources but still in the red for ec and consumer goods so trying to focus on that and just hoping i wont get smashed by them.

This is usually where I give up on my games. I really must turn down end game crisis strength, because every time I find myself as by far the strongest empire in the galaxy yet utterly unable to resist Awakened Empires or any other big scary boi.

Poland is now an OPM in Dobryzn, which makes this the weirdest Europe I've seen in awhile.

Once you pay the Danegeld, you will never be rid of the Dane.

If i pooled all my fleets together i could possibly take one Awakened Empire fleet in a few years with some more tech upgrades.

Other than that, not a chance.

Thankfully tho the AI for the Religious AE is broken and has spent the last 10 years moving its entire navy back and forth between the two star systems whilst the Benevolent Interventionists steamrolled one of their vassals in the eastern part of the galaxy. End game crisis is yet to appear either, i think i set it for 1450 so should be firing off in a few years.

does the AI not know that they need to colonize their offworld habitats? I just invaded some xenos and took a handful of systems and some profitable colonies (if you recall, I was rapidly on the way to mismanaging my economy to disaster) and I noticed that there were three habitats that were built but just... empty. At least two of which have been around for years.

I shouldn't be complaining because, hey, it's free real estate. It's just so odd.

And yet, believe it or not, I'm still behind IRL Russia! I'm a little further on in my Siberian colonization, but IRL Russia owned most of Chernigov/Circassia/Genoa and Kazakh at this point IRL, which I do not.

Yea I took a habitat off the AI just the other day, I think he had three of em all and all, none of em colonized. I also found put during that same war that bombarding a planet into ruins no longer turns it into a tomb world for some reason

So I was attacking a neighboring hivemind to take their 80-pop homeworld for the resources in that system, and then my other neighbor attacks me with his federation. Except the funny thing is, there is a third state between the two states of that federation, and it pretty much hates everyone and so has their borders closed. So while the more powerful of the federation waits, I'll claim 3 of the 4 worlds of the smaller one (leaving them a tiny colony with a 1 pop). I'm planning on genociding 48 of the 52 pops in the to-be-acquired systems, not sure what to do with the other four.

This is strange. Usually when I run into heir issues I just have my character or their descendants boink their spouses (fertility bonuses are your friend). Then I abuse whichever elective form of succession I have atm (Elective Monarchy, Tanistry, Eldership). Combine that with only marrying geniuses and full rights of women, and we have a decent stream of excellent heirs going. I mean this does have its downsides, you can't wrangle bloodlines while breeding for geniuses at the same time, and perhaps your daughter is more useful married to the neighboring king for an alliance than pumping out genius grandkids.

I've done nothing but treat those things as if they're a great threat, holes in my empire that any moron can penetrate. Never did I know that gateways are useless between enemies.

I'm genuinely upset that I've been completely missing out on such a valuable part of the game.

No, there's no controls on wormholes. You can freely attack through them.
