Just played as Belgium in Victoria 2 the other night.

I fought a war with the Netherlands and had my navy destroyed by them. Then I got naval invaded by Spain. My entire army was then destroyed when trying to stop them.
The British had to come in and sue for peace.

What nation should I play now?

Swiss Cheese is basically just make border gore in a peace deal. The Ethiopia achievements are gonna be a pain because of supply in Africa and you are fighting the Allies, but the communist path might be easier since you can white peace if you have most of the state you want to get.

Italian achievements seem fun, you can do multiple of them in one run, the Pizza Time achievement is just gonna hurt me, invading US is a nightmare, especially late-game (in a bad laptop).

I can honestly see the game being Imperator'd eventually with how glacially slow content rollout has been for it tbh. Royal Court is the only serious bit of content for CK3 so far and it's average at best and pretty widely regarded as overpriced, that's not a very great start to only having one DLC per year.

Id be very disappointed if they just dropped CK3 in the future.

Now this is nice. They literally haven't changed since release.

No. Base game CK3 was a massive improvement over CK2 with most of it's DLC.

They better fucking not. That was bullshit what they did to Imperator and it'd be bullshit if they did it to CK3.

Not even. Base CK3 is better than base CK2 by a mile, sure, but if you have all the major DLC for CK2 (barring Conclave, I feel that's a much more optional one) it blows CK3 out of the water in terms of depth and content. Nomads, societies, secret religions, republican and imperial government types, nomads, China, the Silk Road, an actual disease system, Papal elections, actually functioning crusades, regents etc etc. When you actually look at it CK3 is missing most of the stuff CK2 added over its lifespan and is starting almost entirely over, and the team is struggling mightily to actually push out content in a timely manner.

It would be, but CK3s development has seemed pretty rough up to this point. We've gotten Royal Court and some small flavor packs thus far, and the actual royal courts are nowadays pretty widely considered a gimmick that loses their appeal fairly quickly, so the DLC really only gives you new events and cultural stuff.

Two years since CK3 release: 1 expansion, taking almost a year and a half, adding uh...; plus two 'flavor packs' [sic]
Two years since CK2 release: 5 expansions, the first taking just over four months, adding to a base game starting in 1066 and with only Christians playable: Muslims; Byzantines, Orthodoxy, and factions; merchant republics that offer a different way to play the game altogether (not even a year after release!); Vikings, Zoroastrians, and a new start date offering 200 more years of gameplay; and Jews

I guess that's what happens when you make a game designed for Reddit le funny glitterhoof incest screenshots! Do they still have Anglo-Norman surnames in the Anglo-Saxon culture namelist? LOL. At least people can make le funny custom meme religions (also for Reddit screenshots) though.

Things already included in base CK3 added in CK2 DLC: Muslims, factions, Vikings, Zoroastrians, raiding Jews, India/Tibet/Myanmar, retinues. Byzantines could be played in vanilla CK2, there was just nothing making them any different from a Western European ruler.

To put it simply, there's less relatively easy, quick things to add in CK3 compared to CK2 because so much of CK2's early DLC content was included in CK3's base game.

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of CK3 out there. Base CK3 is better than base CK2, but CK2 with everything is better than CK3 with everything.

Also give us ships back Paradox, rather than armies being able to turn into boats at will. It's dumb.

I'm enjoying CK3 and I'm not particularly perturbed by the current speed that new content is being delivered.

I said most of it's DLC, which is absolutely true. CKII had some good DLC don't get me wrong; but most of it was underwhelming or boring. While they might have added interesting mechanics this doesn't necessarily mean they were a good DLC. I for one hate how China, the Republican and Imperial governments, and nomads were implemented. Societies were just too bland and repetitive to be interesting with the except of the Satanists who were just plain annoying. Crusades didn't become really interesting until Holy Fury, which is pretty bad form for a game with "crusade" in the name.

Dumb Ideologies wrote:I'm enjoying CK3 and I'm not particularly perturbed by the current speed that new content is being delivered.

I agree, actually. More time between DLC means we can play longer games without having to revert the checksum every month to account for frequent save-breaking updates.

I was just playing a game earlier.
During said game, Austria and Baden invaded Switzerland.
They took a single province and for some reason it turned into Prussia. And The German Confederation already existed.

I feel like Kuzarite is much strongly expanding to Baltic-Finnic peoples in CK3 now than before, but I'm not quite sure why.
OR maybe it's been fluke.
