It took 80 years to totally annihilate the second most powerful religion in the game. I really quite hate how imbalanced all of the early start dates are for both of the most powerful religions in the world.

I just hate how they keep focusing on forcing us to have gravekin or how ever it's spelled for as long as painfully possible. Like it's literally the least fun and most annoying thing ever introduced into CK2. And now they want to make a point of it.
The whole thing just feels like a mechanic designed to keep the AI down and prevent it from challenging the player, sort of like the obedience focus tree for Manchuko in HOI4. Not something the player should actually use short of severe masochism.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Except gavelkind (or something similar to it) was probably the most common succession type of that time period.

I don't like it either, but I understand why it's prevalent.

I don't get why everyone hates Gavelkind tbh. At worst, it'll mean your dynasty score will raise more quickly and you'll need to spend the first few years of your reign assassinating people, at best it's a centuries-long challenge (and it really only takes until you get late feudal law, so not really that hard anyway). Maybe Partition'll be different than Gavelkind tho so idk.

Wait for it, some contrarian will come in here and scream to the rooftops about it being the best system.

It's accurate, but at least this time they're allowing you to make it suck less. Plus, given that there's gonna be more forms of elective succession, and we already know that those can be assimilated via innovation, and Eldership/Tanistry was and is pretty overpowered, it's likely we won't be stuck with Gavelkind the whole time it's expected to have it.

Because it's basically a system when every time you die the game tells you to **** off and undoes all you spent hours if not days building.

Every time your ruler dies I literally see that stupid paradox dog mascot popping up on screen saying:
"Oh, I see you are building a nice little kingdom / empire there. That sounds like so much fun. Well we can't have that now can we?"

And yes, it's historically accurate. But so what? Accuracy must take a step back to fun otherwise what's the point?
